Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Of course you being a half-blood means you don't share all the traits of a kitsune."

 

"It sounds you have since lost some of your resourcefulness." Anne says, lighting the sigil on fire as the Phoenix's cry echoes through the skies.

 

"You can go collect them now if you wish. Your personal belongings weren't touched, and hell if I'm carrying those damn things out." The guard says.

It's mostly letters from work or people appreciative of what Alice has done, though one letter stands out from the rest, looking much prettier than the others.

 

"I have no home to bring them to yet." Alice says, opening the letter that stands out.

 

The letter reads:
"Dear Detective Alice,

You are cordially invited to the Shadow Palace Ball on the 22nd of Kaiyre, at 8pm. It would be very much appreciated if you would attend.

Yours Sincerely,
The Shadow Palace planning committee."

 

"What day is it?" Alice asks, opening the other work letters.

 

Most of the work letters contain cheques and appreciative comments on her cases.

"The 17th of Ferreal." The guard says.

 

She looks for any negative comments.

"Was Kaiyre last month or next month?"

 

"Next." The guard says.

No negative comments at all. In fact, the comments seem to get more positive and appreciative as time goes on.

 

Alice takes the pile of appreciative letters and tears it with a clawed hand.
"Was the ball cancelled?" She asks, continuing to go through her letters.

 

"No, it's still planned to continue." The guard says.

The rest of her letters seem to be from families of people she's saved members of, or people who are simply fans.

 

"Nothing came about seeing if I was still here after my resignation?"

 

"There were checks, but when you disappeared, we thought you'd left." The guard says.

 

"Yes, that will do. And a small compensation gift of either food or money."

 

"I had left because I had been receiving death threats."

"Won't that encourage disobedience?"

 

"How'd Eklir fare?"

"Well, let's find someplace to settle down."

 

"...He never came back." Ytir says, concerned.

Linoa approaches a dragon yet to fall asleep.
"My apologies, but would you mind if my friend and I spent the night?"
"Not at all. Hopefully you find my home suitable for rest."
Linoa nods, landing.

 

"Did he go to battle?"

"Thanks."
Crystal says to the dragon and smiles, getting off the staff.

 

"Yes, but he wasn't there at the end when we cleaned up."

The dragon nods, resting their head on their tail as they start to doze off.
Linoa lays down on a patch of mossy dirt, seeing as it's softer than the rocky cave floor, also apparently tired.
Muffy keeps quiet, licking your face to let you know she's awake.

 

"That's unfortunate. I can look for him."
I offer.

Crystal goes next to her and sits down, shifting his head to turn towards Muffy.
"Are you going to sleep too?"
He asks softly.
