Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I glance behind me, and the door to the room is shut off with thick bars, preventing escape. The ground starts to rumble, most of the floor sinking away into molten magma, lighting up the room as a large, one-eyed titan emerges from the magma, it's body made of what seems to be solid rock. The titan roars, and I quickly empower Artemis as she braces herself.

The titan begins trying to smash Artemis on what remains of the flooring, Artemis dodging the attacks as stalactites fall from the top of the room, one of the larger ones falling and creating a bridge of sorts to a minecart, its tracks seeming to run around the room.

"Quick, the minecart!" I say through Artemis, and Artemis makes a run for the minecart after dodging an attack. Once she gets in, the minecart takes off, running around the room and around the titan. There appear to be weak spots on the titan, gaps between the rocks that form its body to reveal glowing insides. Artemis aims her shots carefully, precisely shooting the weak spots as she rides the minecart around the titan. After quite a few shots, the titan roars in pain, falling onto the platform as the minecart reaches the end of the track, tipping Artemis out. Shadow Katana appears in Artemis' spare hand, and she quickly attacks the exposed eye of the titan, slicing it as best she can before the titan gets up, clutching it's eye as it smashes the platform, knocking Artemis back with a lucky shot.

 

"Yes."
I answer honestly.

"If you say so."
Crystal says, boarding the staff.

 

Alice, forced out of you as you empowered Artemis, bends her body to act as a platform to keep Artemis from having to look to reposition.
"Don't question anything yet. Finish that thing first." She grumbles.

"U-um... I wasn't taught how to handle this in the academy... d-do you, uh... would you mind talking to my supervisor?" They ask.

Linoa takes off towards the coty, but a dragon rider stops them.
"What's your business here?"
"Just sightseeing, sir!" Linoa calls back.
The dragon looks at Crystal funnily, the guard seeming to relay a message through a radio.

 

"Not at all. Lead the way."

Crystal just smiles back, and waves.

 

They start walking down the battlements.
"U-um... if they do something bad, I'm sorry... I-I just can't tell my superiors that." They say.

The dragon seems even more curious flying over.
"Hey, what the hell are you...? I told you to stay put!"
The dragon lets out an annoyed howl.

 

"I'll be fine."
I reassure confidently.

"Oh, okay..."
Crystal says, a bit threatened, and puts down his hand.

 

"First night on the job and this happens..." They groan, holding a tower door open for you.

"Not you. You're fine! My dragon, I meant!" They shout, frustrated.

 

"Thank you. Have a good day."
I say, walking through the door.

Crystal nods, but keeps his hand down.

 

"Downstairs and to the left. Down the hall and the sixth door on the right."

The guard seems to be disciplining his dragon, who only seems to half take it as it eyes Crystal.

 

"What should I say?"

Crystal smiles at the dragon.

 

"Just say the rookie found you."

The dragon eventually gets distracted by the guard having it turn and land, the guard himself looking rather pissed.
"I... don't know how to respond to that." Linoa chuckles.

 

"Alright."
I say, taking the direction that they told me.

"Dragons like shiny things."

 

You find yourself entering an office.
"Hmm? I wasn't expecting a visitor." They say, too busy with paperwork to look up at you.

"Usually they can obey orders in the presence of them..."
Pause.
"Oh, damnit, you're like a prism up here in the middle of the day! That's probably why."

 

"What? Alice, what are you-" Artemis tries to ask before she's crushed by the titan's giant fist.

The pink faerie, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, quickly spins around Artemis, lifting her up from the ground and healing her.

Artemis, regaining her focus, dodges the titan's attacks before the faux-bridge is created back to the minecart rails, the minecart waiting to go. Artemis jumps into the minecart when she can, repeating the process as the titan tries to block her shots with it's hand, though having to lower it as Artemis hits a weak spot on it.

 

Alice tries to spread herself into a cloud of dark fog to obscure the titan's vision.

 

The titan tries to swipe at Alice, frustrated. As it does so, it knocks some of the minecart rails, causing Artemis to lose her balance and miss a shot. Artemis gets up and continues shooting, barely managing to weaken the titan enough to cause it to fall before she's tipped out of the minecart.

Artemis slices the titans eye as much as she can, though somehow the titan still has the strength to get up. Infuriated, the titan smashes the minecart tracks, stalactites falling into the magma around him and forming platforms. Artemis quickly jumps to one of the stalactite platforms as the titan smashes both of its fists onto the one she's occupying, destroying it. Artemis jumps from platform to platform as the titan tries to crush her, aiming for the weak spots as she does so.

 

Alice moves the fog towards already destroyed platforms, trying to buy Artemis time for a more focused shot.

 

The titan doesn't seem distracted, but after shooting enough of it's weak points, the titan falls back against the wall of the room. Artemis aims her shot, hitting the titan straight in the eye. The titan roars in pain, thrashing about before slowing down as it's eye melts, it's body darkening before exploding lightly. A large, red, heart-shaped crystal and a red necklace fall into a centre platform where the titan emerged, a few platforms rising up from the magma which Artemis hops across. A strange aura of magic, light blue in appearance sprouts up from the centre platform, swirling around as Artemis picks up the necklace and crystal, myself appearing next to her.

"Whew...that was intense." I say, smiling.

 

"I was hoping you wouldn't blow my cover, Aj." Alice sighs.

 

"I thought you quit!" I say.
