Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I fly over to them, landing.

"Yeah, yeah, I know."

 

You startle them, but they quickly stand down.
"Morning!"

Linoa waits a bit.
"Must be a slow day?"

 

"Morning. I got more information about Rath'haga. It might've been obvious, but I never saw it."

"Maybe..."

 

I summon some lightning to strike the village center repeatedly.

 

"Oh?"

The spider returns with the food.
"Sorry for the wait. This one's on the house as an apology!"
"Oh, thank you so much!" Linoa says.

Startled, about three come out to the village center as the rest simply mutter curses and tend to those you've given heart attacks.

 

"There's an opening to the stronghold that's protected by a gauntlet instead of people."

Unsure of what to say, Crystal just smiles.

 

"You three, what are your names and what do you do?"

 

Artemis turns west, heading twenty paces before attempting to enter the location.

 

"Well then, now I have to protect you at all costs. You're far away from home. You're coming with me now I guess. And two tails huh. You must be pretty young. But why would you be in the forest at your age? It's safer in the village." I ask with curiosity

 

"Oh? Is it easier than trying to fight our way in?"

The spider slides him a glass of water.
"I don't know if golems need to eat or drink, but..."
They shrug before leaving again and going back to other chores.

"Mackie, and I help my pa on the farm."
"Paro, and I'm learning how to cook."
"...I was just passing through until you came along."

She finds herself in what looks to be a royal tomb, an Anubis priest already there and praying.

Anne seems confused.
"What do you mean, far from home? The forest is my home since you chased grandma out."

 

"It might be. There's golems, and various traps, but there might not be anything to alert someone that we're coming."

"Thanks!"
Crystal says to the leaving spider, before picking the glass up and swishing the water around, eyeing it.

 

I ask very confused.
"Chased your grandma out? I would think I remember that. Are you sure you got the right kitsune chief?"

 

"The one before you, probably. They chased grandma Ella out because her lover wasn't a kitsune. I'm only a halfblood."

"Might not be? Did you get close enough to be sure?"

The water just swirls around, forming a little whirlpool after he stops moving the glass.

 

Artemis and I look around for anyone who looks like the mayor, before waiting for the priest to finish praying.

 

"Congratulations. Mackie, you are now the Chief of Agriculture along with your father. Paro, you will be in charge of the food stocks. and you, no-name, will be my assistant. All three of you will be paid by me personally. I shall be bringing in some other people to help you learn your jobs." I say, "For now, you three can do whatever you like."

 

The other two nod, and the third scowls.
"I would never serve the likes of you. Not for any pay or any mercy. I'm already employed."

It's hard to tell, but there's a clerk sitting behind a desk off in a room to the side of the statue.

 

Artemis and I quietly walk over to the clerk.

"Excuse me, do you know were we can find the mayor?" I ask quietly as to not interrupt the priest's prayers.

 

"Yes, let me go get him for you." The clerk says, heading off into another back room.

 

I wait patiently while Artemis tries to overhear the priest's words, if any.

 

The priest finishes just as Artemis tries to eavesdrop, it seems.

A minute later, the Anubis who was sitting next to the one Katie murdered in the cafe steps out.
"Good morning! How can I hel-oh... it's you again." He sighs.
