Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Want some seconds, Kiin?" Aquira asks happily, taking Kiin's bowl and heading out to the kitchen.

Katie slides her plate away from Kiin, hunching over it defensively.

 

"Want food!" She protests, sitting back.

 

"Now Kiin, I want doesn't get. It's 'Can I have some more food please.'" Sidus says in a parental voice.

 

Kiin pouts, making a fish out of ice and feeding herself as she ignores Sidus' request.

 

Aquira returns with another bowlful of the mixture.

"Kiin, in these situations, it's polite to say 'Thank you'. Can you say 'thank you'?" Aquira asks kindly as she puts the bowl in front of Kiin.

 

"No thank you." She says, glaring at the mush.

 

"Excuse me?" Aquira asks, surprised.

"Kiin, don't be so rude!" Sidus says sternly.

 

"I'm going to an island south of this continent. There has been rumors of a prophet and a portal there and I need to check it out to see if this prophet poses any threat to the forest and my kin." I say with a cold stare.
"Which reminds me, why are you following me exactly? What do you get out of this situation?"

 

"No want mush, please. Food, please, momma."

"Prophet? Bingo! I'm going with you now, no matter what!"

 

"That is food, Kiin. It contains all the things you need to grow up big and strong!" Aquira says with a kind, motherly tone.

 

My face turns into a shocked expression.
"Uh. OK then, that didn't really answer my question."
"We should cross the river but we have to wait until tomorrow for the currents to die down. They're too strong at the moment."

 

Still in the air, I get a good look at the castle, and where everything is most likely placed.

"They're over there."
Crystal says to Linoa, pointing.

 

"No! Fish, please."

"I thought you said it was fake." The vixen asks, keeping just about right next to you. "I'm okay with waiting. I always wanted to meet them!"

The stronghold in particular is guarded much more heavily than the outer walls, though the outer walls wouldn't allow anything to sneak in.

"Ah. Okay. I guess I can wait a few minutes."

 

"I said it gives them a fake sense of direction, they'll confuse north from south and east from west. And who's 'them'?" I ask with a worried tone

 

"Well...if you think you can handle solid foods..." Aquira says, glancing at Sidus.

"Let her try some fish, Xephyr said she was special." Sidus says.

Aquira heads out into the kitchen, returning a while later with a cut up fish and thinly cut potato wedges, more like chips.

"Some fish and potato for our big girl." Aquira says happily, putting the plate in front of Kiin.

 

"The prophet, of course!"

Kiin eats the pieces one by one, albeit getting a little bit messy.
"Thank you, momma!" Kiin says happily, scraping a bit of potato off her snout.

 

Aquira gets a napkin and cleans Kiin up, before clearing away her mess.

"Thanks mum! Thanks dad!" Katie says happily, putting her knife and fork on her empty plate. Aquira takes Kiin's, Katie's and Sidus' empty plates to the kitchen.

"Thanks, honey." Sidus says, kissing Aquira lightly as she retrieves his plate.

 

"You know them?" I ask with a very concerned tone and look

 

Kiin glances around a bit before opting to blink out of her ice throne/high chair and starts eating it.

"Yeah, granny used to fight alongside them! She's super nice and is really strong!" She says happily. "Why are you worried? Did you do bad things?"

 

"Don't eat your chair, Kiin. You won't have any room left for dessert!" Katie says happily, refreezing the high chair.

Aquira soon brings out four bowlfuls of ice cream, three different scoops in each as well as a spoon. She puts a bowl in front of Sidus, Katie and Kiin, as well as next to her plate of half-eaten fish.

Katie gasps in joy, immediately starting to eat her ice cream. Kiin's bowl seems to contain vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream.
