Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yes, that's right! This is your daddy, Sidus." Aquira says happily.

"Hello, Kiin." Sidus says, smiling.

 

"Yeah. Nothing happened."

"Uhm..."
Crystal thinks, then realizes something.
"You're the hungry one."

 

"Dadda... Sidis?" Kiin asks, flash freezing a bridge between her adoptive parents to get a literal feel for Sidus.

"Good." Runo yawns, walking over to the mantis.
"Huh. Guess we're still resting."

"Cafe it is. I like the smaller feel." Linoa says, flying towards it and getting off her staff.
She's greeted by a giant spider, web holding the door open as they tend to the garden boxes.
"Good morning, new blood! Find a seat and I'll be with you in a moment."

 

"Si-Dus, Si-Dus." Sidus pronounces clearly, smiling.

 

"Some sleep longer than others."

"...New blood?"
Crystal asks nervously, opting to wait for Linoa to take a seat first.

 

"Ah, a city-state. What's the name of this city-state?"

 

"Si... dus... Dadda Sidus." Kiin says, starting to climb down Sidus' back, claws poking through his clothing a bit.

"Apparently."

"We identify by blood. Yours seems unfamiliar. Thus, new blood." The spider explains, Linoa just taking a seat in a corner.

"No name. We haven't needed one. Sometimes outsiders refer to this place as Cliffside, though."

 

"I can watch them more, if you lot need to do whatever you need to do."

"Oh. Okay."
Crystal agrees, although a bit unsure, and takes a seat with Linoa.

 

Aral'hrah glances at the others, everyone but a sulking Eklir just shrugging.

"It's okay, most people are a bit unnerved on their first visit. Between the dragonflies, werewolves, lamia and landsharks, you get used to it." The spider says happily as Linoa eyes the menu.

 

"I'll just watch them anyways. Make sure something doesn't happen."
I decide.

"Okay."
Crystal just agrees, eyeing the menu, but not opening it.

 

They nod.
"...Patrol, anyone?" Gau offers.
"Wouldn't be a bad idea. We'll be back in a few."

It seems to be drawn over printed, though each repeating letter looks as similar as if it were typed.

 

"Alright."
I say, sitting down, and watching the mantises.

Crystal opens the menu, looking at the options.

 

There's hardly any motion to watch. They look somewhat like painted statues.

There is bread/toast either plain or with cheese, a few kinds of crackers, and a wide range of drinks including the blood of a few creatures.

 

I keep watch regardless.

"What're you getting?"
Crystal asks Linoa.

 

It's hours before Orchid stirs.
"Whew... that ruse fell in fast." She yawns.

"Crackers and serpent blood." She says, waiting for the spider, or anyone to take the order.

 

"It can be hard to act like you're asleep when you're actually tired."
I advise.

"You drink blood?"

 

"Clearly." She chuckles.

"Yeah. It's an acquired taste, but done up right it's as good as an expensive wine."

 

"The others left."
I point out.

"Huh."
Pause.
"Can you pay for it?"

 

"Probably on a patrol, right?"

"Yeah, I have money on me."

 

"Right."

"This town's money?"
