I briefly think about investigating the noise but decide against it, as I need to be at the Emerald Vaults so that the monsters know where to guard instead of just following me around. I continue flying to the Emerald Vaults.

 

...You see nothing out of the ordinary.

You see a robot standing near the edge of town, staring you down.

Upon arrival, you see Feiha sitting near the vault in a meditative pose. A dark orb lingers above her, and she doesn't seem to notice you.

 

"Hey! Hey! You! Have you seen anyone by the name of #13? He said he knew where something of mine is."

 

I say to Feiha, "Why do you wait here? Are you waiting for the Emeraldonians to bring their items to you? Or did you find another way in? Or are you just guarding something you cannot take?"

 

"No, I don't believe I have seen anyone who goes by #13. Why do you ask?" I say.

 

"He was suppose to give me a location, that's all I'm going to say. And by any chance do you know where a inn or a place to stay is?"

 

"Very well. I believe there's an inn of some sorts near the center of the town, if you'd like to stay somewhere. Would you know where someone like myself could get some work?"

 

"Waiting? I only wait for the others. It's a simple struggle; we're evenly matched when all five of each group is locked in combat. With you on their side and more of them, I can only hope to wear them down."
She doesn't move except for opening an eye halfway to watch you.
"And if Vei comes, my end is certain, forcing the others to engage all at once. There is no evil in this conflict of ours, merely differing motives."

 

"It isn't me you should worry about. I have seen mortals last through anything. In my kingdom, the Darklands, when I created a civil war, I watched my own people fight. I never thought that they would last so long. They could not fight each other, lest they destroy themselves in the process. Then I watched the Lost Kingdom's armada torn apart by your darkest nightmares. Even as they died, they would not accept failure. When the peoples of the Darklands united once more and slaughtered that long lost kingdom, they still fought to the last. No matter what I tried, I could not force a mortal to accept failure. That is what makes humans unique... their strength in will."

 

"We are not human, nor are we immortal. Vesius mistakes his existence as more than a normal draconian as a freak accident. Even the young one is a Fragment. You could call us demigods... but a true deity lurks just beneath our hides."
The orb seems to stabilize.
"Mortals... are not my concern"

 

"Maybe they aren't. But they are mine... and if they tell me that seven powerful items scattered across the world can open a Vault if brought together, then I start to wonder why someone is so desperate to open it. You already have power. Why would you need the Vault to help you."
I realise that something might happen, so I start building up my aura, ready for battle.

 

"You have one flaw in your argument."
The orb collapses on itself.
"...you assume I want to use what's in the vault."
She still doesn't move. Armor forms over her robe.

 

"So is that a yes or a... No?"

 

"It's an 'I don't care either way.' Your call."

 

I roll my eyes. "Whatever, mortal. I'm going to go check out that sound." I teleport to where I think the sound came from.

 

You see Ihra laying on the ground, staff and fragments of the crystal lying around her.

"Who did this to you?" I ask.

 

No response from her...
