"Right. How about giving me the information?"

Ali pauses.
"Well... maybe. You'd probably need the person who keeps the artifact locked up to see Abigail in prison or be tortured, to be honest. They really hate fire guardians now..."

 

"Abigail's disappeared. I honestly worry about her." Stephanie says worriedly.

"It's probably for the best someone like her isn't around. She seems dangerous." Angela says fearfully.

"She's not that horrible, trust me." Stephanie says, turning to Angela.

 

"Their castle is called Ruin's Respite, a creation made by a machine called the inhibitor. It keeps the land alive. I think the king made a pact with a dragon, sacrificing his son along the way. I don't know much else about the inhibitor, so I don't know if trying to sneak into the castle and take it is the best idea."
I explain.

 

"Maybe around you..."

Pause.
"Thanks."

 

"Oh, and the librarian hates you folk with a burning passion and threatened to have me imprisoned when I question why you lot were the problem for the dead planet, while no human has any idea whatsoever."

 

"I don't think she wants you dead, I think she's just...misunderstood." Stephanie says.

 

"Oh great. Ignorant prick."

"Well, make sure there's no misunderstanding on her end." Ali sighs.

 

"Yup."

 

"I think she was just scared of you." Stephanie says honestly.

 

"Well, now we're scared of her." Ali sighs. "Look, I want to give her a chance... I offered her shelter from the storm. Every time we try to do something for your group... things happen."

"So, inhibitor thingy is why their land is alive. We figure out how it works, and we start undoing the damage? Is that what I'm understanding?" Aral'hrah asks.

 

"Yeah, pretty much. I'm hoping to get more information about the inhibitor soon."

 

"I'm sorry that's been happening but...please, we'll try not to be hostile." Stephanie says apologetically.

 

"Good luck. And if you manage to get it, don't let the mantis get it. Their Matriarch is... persuasive."

"I know you're sorry, but Abigail... never seems to be."

 

"She's apologised for her actions before, and I don't think this is any different. If we find her, we'll bring her to you. Even though an apology won't be enough, I hope it's worth something." Stephanie says sadly.

 

"If she threatens our leader again, I fear it won't be." Ali sighs.

 

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks."

 

"Wouldn't an apology put you and her on equal ground though?" Angela asks, confused.

"In all honesty, I don't think Abigail wants to kill people, or get thrown in jail." Stephanie says.

 

"She killed people, past tense, so their families want her to serve time. And no, not for the damage she caused, an apology wouldn't be enough."

"Though, I do request that if you end up fighting her, allow me to finish her. I want the honor of doing so."

 

"Getting into her base is for later. I need to get more information on the inhibitor, first."

 

"I guess admitting your mistakes and wanting to make up for them isn't enough with cases as serious as this..." Angela says, "I feel sorry for their families."

"If only apologies solved everything." Stephanie says, sighing.
