Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Forgot to mention, our robes aren't made out of your standard run-of-the-mill fabric. You saw it with Nyre, but I can demonstrate..."
Vei grabs her hood and swipes at it with her claws; not a scratch is evident on the robe.
"Be careful with my daughter. She doesn't have armor yet and her robe is more resilient than she is at this age."
"Hey! I'm not supposed to be fighting anyways, you said!"

 

"I'll try my best to protect her." Artemis says kindly.

"And I'll make sure you don't go around trying to kill everything." Abigail says, looking at Artemis.

 

"Give her a break. Just hope Nyre doesn't take pleasure in watching."

 

"Oh great, more unwanted eyes." Abigail says, annoyed.

"Why does Nyre keep showing up anyway? I would've thought the other fragments would show up too."

 

Idala says, "Halfway through-"
"Idala, Maxie eats rocks."
"I don't understand some creatures..."

 

"He's not here. I'm saying that hopefully Nyre doesn't enjoy seeig you guys butcher each other as an after-fight show."

"It's okay, he's worse if he can't find me. His eyesight is also pretty crap, so that complicates finding him occasionally."
She eyes the braces.
"So, how was my homeland?"

 

"Your homeland was very interesting."
"Apparently it was the most peaceful place there is, though I didn't go there."

 

"There's not much, but maybe we'll get somewhere someday. Keila and the Storm Barrier is about all we have."

 

"Having a small, peaceful kingdom isn't bad. If anything, it is better in several ways."

 

"True, but if the barrier is broken or breached, my people are doomed."

 

"The barrier is hard to reach and most would never realise that a kingdom would be inside. I myself never found it until I saw Aria in my kingdom and she told me that it existed."

 

"It was technically his fault," Artemis says, "The reason I tried to kill Abigail and Aj is because I lost control of myself because I was a Death Guardian, and the reason I was a Death Guardian was because I wanted to kill Nyre."

"So, uh, what now?" I ask, "Weren't we going to Brisingr?"

 

"I'm not a fan of the cold..." Lazarus really hates the cold a lot.

 

I reach out to you telepathically. "Ehm, you okay there?"

 

"Fair point, but those two behind you... they look similar to the king who came close to breaching it. I fear that it would only be a matter of time."

"Not sure."
"Wait, so you only get corrupted when you try to kill someone? Maybe you should hang back with Ihra..."

"Then I hope you're smart enough not to dunk yourself in lava; Brisingr it is."
Vei heads towards what seems like a way out of the cave, signaling you to follow.

"So... I'm kind of okay. That was..."
I dive underground, but don't keep tunneling.
"...I read somewhere that it's what happens to the Twin Experiment draconians... It was in a file I wasn't supposed to read. When it happens, it means... well... in my case..."

I cut off the telepathy for a moment.
"My sister's dead."

I cut the link off again.
"Sorry, not taking it well... I'm supposed to keep tabs on a dragon? Any idea where that Drakenfell place is?"

 

I follow. I whistle for Bowie to follow me as well.

 

"Ouch. That's understandable, you have my sympathies. And Drakenfell is... On the northeast side of the Varden Plains. You can just follow. I'm above you." I hesitate for a moment, then fly off.

 

Bowie's already on your shoulder.

It takes a few minutes to get out of the cave. Vei uses her wing to block your eyes from the sun, but it's still bright.
"Let's have you get used to the surface again. Also, with those braces? Try not to blast yourself into orbit. You'd freeze." She smirks.

The signature line-of-slightly-torn-up-ground follows your path.
"Hey, thanks for this. Pretty sure I'd already be dead if I were on any worse terms with you."

 

"Brisingr, Brisingr!" I start to chant. Abigail joins in, "Brisingr, Brisingr!" We chant.

"Wait, what was Brisingr again?" Abigail whispers to me.

"Fiery place" I whisper back.

"BRISINGR! BRISINGR!" Abigail chants louder.

Artemis ignores the chanting, "I only lost control because I went overboard with my Death Guardian side," She explains, "Technically, whenever I summon Gaia's Scythe, I'm being a Death Guardian. The more I use my powers, the harder it is to control."

 

"Think nothing of it. It's probably my fault the people of Brisingr have been so openly hostile. It wasn't like this, and maybe if I'd have visited the people at all more often..."
