Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I place the diamond on the claw.
"So, what exactly do you do here, Mr. Hydra?"

 

"Okay. It's good to know things, though."

 

They take their claw back, holding on tight.
"Whatever I want. With multiple I-Owe-You's from multiple gods, that lasts a while."

"So you're on my side with this whole know-or-not stuff?"

 

"I spent a few years doing nothing but travelling to different towns, reading the books I could get my hands on with information that I haven't yet heard or been programmed with. Whenever I can know something, I get to know it."

 

"And what exactly is it you did?" I ask, pulling out my journal and taking down notes.

 

"So... yes?"

"Just helped a psycho girl get the hell off my land. Got paid to not kill her."

 

"Does this psycho girl have a name?"

 

The pair head off into the desert, continuing their search.

After searching for three hours, there doesn't seem to be a single trace of Abigail anywhere in the desert.

 

"Yes."
I confirm.

 

"Eh, I've forgotten since."

"...Thanks." They say, seeming tired suddenly.
"Y-you know... t-these things are a lot more... comfortable than... the ground." They yawn.

The Anubi shows up at the Shifting Sands cafe, albeit a minute late.

 

"Then sleep."
I suggest.
"I can be stationed until you wake."

 

They don't wait to take your suggestion.

...six hours later, they're still sleeping harder than you've seen anyone else sleep. They're completely out.

 

I smile, watching their position.

 

They sort of just look like a feathery lump, laying there curled up.

 

Testing their feathers, I lightly touch one.

 

The outer ones are pretty rigid, but the smaller, inner coat seems to be mostly downy feathers.

 

I return to my original position, waiting once more.

 

After another four hours, the raptor starts to stir.
"W-wow... h-how long was I out?"

 

"Ten hours. How long do you usually sleep?"

 

"T-ten?! Shit! I usually sleep four!" They half-shout, panicked.
