Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I went on day one."

 

A guard enters.

"Miss Ali, due to the issue with a false version of you taking your place, we thought we'd ask the real you the question we asked her," The guard says, clearing his throat, "Would you like Katie, the one that killed the innocent and caused the trouble in your cafe to apologise to you personally for her actions?"

 

"A-absolutely... if she wants to."

 

"So you didn't learn anything on the intro day."

 

"Psh, hell no."

 

"That means you're busy all the time helping your father."

 

"No, that means I'm helping father because I skipped."

 

The guard leans back out of the door.

"Bring her in!" The guard says.

A short moment later, Katie is pushed into the room, collapsing, a large green crystal behind her. She seems to have crystal cuffs around her hands and feet, and her hair and eyes are a faded grey. She seems to be wearing nothing but thin underwear to cover her private areas, but the most noticeable thing, however, is her skin.

Up to her face, all of Katie's skin looks red, harshly burnt and blistered, bleeding quite a bit. Most of Katie's skin almost looks like it's been burnt through, a pool of blood forming around where Katie's collapsed. In addition to the extreme burns and blisters, Ali can just about notice multiple deep wounds all over Katie, and as the guard forcefully pulls Katie back up by her hair, her face looks terribly bruised, as if she'd been beaten constantly.

"Apologise!" The guard barks at Katie. Katie almost looks like she's crying from pain, though no tears form.

"A-Aaagh..." Katie moans, clearly in a lot of pain.

"I said apologise!" The guard says, taking what looks like a white hot iron sword and pressing it against Katie's back, causing her to scream in pain as blood drips to the floor.

"I-I'm s-sor-ry..." Katie tries to say weakly, slow at speaking.

"Clearer!" The guard says, shoving the white hot sword into Katie's side, her blood hissing as it drains from her.

"...I'm s-orry..." Katie tries to say as clear as possible, grimacing in pain.

"Useless girl," The guard says, throwing Katie back onto the ground, more of her blood splattering about as she lands, "Was that enough for you, Miss Ali?"

 

"Why do you skip? Is it really that boring to not even do it for two days?"

 

Ali, stunned silent, flips the guard off.

"Well... yeah."

 

The guard seems rather surprised, "Excuse me, Miss?" He asks, offended.

 

"How do you know it's boring if you skip?"

 

"T-that wasn't her apologizing on her o-own accord." She says, horrified.

"Because the first day sucked."

 

"Because of the other people or because it was boring?"

 

"Both."

 

"Terribly sorry, Miss Ali," The guard says, kicking Katie and causing a bit of blood to splatter, "Apologise and mean it, otherwise we're extending your sentence another day."

Katie just lies there, moaning in pain. She sounds as if she's sobbing, though she can't seem to cry at all.

"Apologise!" The guard says, forcing Katie up by shoving the white hot blade in her back, lifting her up off the ground with it. The blade cuts through Katie's back as she's lifted, the smell of burnt flesh starting to come from Katie as her blood hisses.

The guard forces Katie to stand up once he lifts her using the blade, before punching her in the face when she hangs her head low, weak.

"I-I'm...*cough*...s-sorry, I m-mean it...*cough*" Katie says, trying to look at Ali as she speaks, coughing up a large amounts of blood.

 

"Middle ground, and first day."
I remind.
"There's no excuse for skipping school because the first day, where you're not really supposed to do anything, is boring."

 

"That's not what I meant. I want her healed. When she's not beaten bloody, I'll talk to her. Until then, I'm going to pray the sun has its way with you."

"Tsch, shut up. You want a guide or not?"

 

"This was her sentence for killing one of your kind, Miss Ali. Seventy two hours of torture to show that the king doesn't let her actions go unpunished." The guard says.

 

I approach one of them.
"Good day. I'm a traveller from a far off land. Could you tell me what the name of this village is?"
