Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, thank you for your time."
I say, smiling, then walk to the marketplace, or to a shop if I see one along the way.

 

The street is lined with shops. From hobby shops to tents selling little magic trinkets, you've got plenty of options.

 

I enter the nearest hobby shop, looking around.

 

They sell wooden models, some kits with assembly required and others hand-carved decorative pieces.
"Good morning! Can I help you, sir?"

 

"Yes, I was wondering if you knew the directions to the stronghold?"

 

"Of course! If you want, I can have my intern take you there. Or do you do better with directions?" They offer.

 

"I'm fine with either, really, but I don't want to take much of their time."

 

A teenage girl, wearing a grey mage robe steps out of the back.
"I don't mind. I'm a bit bored anyways."
"A walk would be good for you, too!"
"Oh, dad!" They scoff.

 

I chuckle softly at the two interacting.

 

The girl sighs after their dad just smiles.
"Yeah, I'll take you. I need to return a tome I borrowed anyways." They tell you.

 

"Alright, then. Lead the way."
I offer, stepping away from the door.

 

They nod, opening the door and sliding the doorstop under it to let in the morning air.
From here, the sun seems to be a bright blue instead of yellow.

They continue down the main road a few blocks before taking a right down an alley.

 

I follow, taking a mindful note of the sun.

 

"I chose a good day to go outside." She comments, also glancing up at the sun.
She takes one more turn, and it seems the alley goes through the main road - or there's more than one main road.

 

"You don't get out much?"
I ask, curious.

 

"No. I'm... not the best student, so showing my face around everywhere isn't the smartest thing I could do."

 

"You get pushed around a lot?"
I ask, toning my voice down.

 

"...Yeah. I use a magic that most people call redundant. I use it to help my father keep the shop stocked. My allowance is crap, though."

 

"What kind of magic?"

 

"What?" The elite asks, genuinely confused, "That's impossible. I've lived my entire life up until now, and everyone I've encountered has known I was there. I'm not a fake, I'm a Shadow."
