Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I can see better why lizard fellow wanted some armor."
I say to Rineth, continuing to look around.

 

There seems to be some signs of other creatures that are hunted. A serpentine race also seems to exist, though you didn't see any while you were with the raptor. There's also some kind of plant-critter that sheds a bark that's used for shields.

 

"Some interesting stuff..."

 

"The fauna is... concerning. Those talons aren't just for show."

 

"Lizard Fellow was talking about territories amongst the different monsters, so I'd imagine they fight fiercely."

 

"So they've got each other and this place to worry about... sounds harsh."

 

"How many do you think are the adventuring type around here?"
I say jokingly.

 

"At least one." He chuckles.

 

"Well, somebody's got to supply."
I say, realizing.
"Oh, wow..."

 

Rineth snickers.
"Underhanded, I know."

 

"It's either that, or someone goes out and scavenges for stuff in the wasteland."

 

"Likely both. Those raptors definitely behaved like they could be killed just as easily as they kill."

 

"He did seem worried about the rival tribes in the area, saying that he'd leave if one of them came around, and the other he was fairly afraid of."

 

"Plus, the mantis. He seemed even more concerned about them. I wonder if we could manage to keep neutral and figure out what's keeping them all scared straight of each other?"

 

"For the mantises and the raptors, it might be about the mantis's leader. Apparently, they pretty much follow her very order, and die for her. Lizard Fellow doesn't seem like the kind to follow, and he's the boss of his tribe, or whatever you want to call them."
I explain.

 

"Matriarch, he called her I think. I'm kind of curious about her, now. There's got to be some reason that every one of her people will die in her stead, and that's saying a lot since they seem to be at war with... everyone."

 

"I've heard of different types of bugs that have queens, and different types of people who tend to be like that... then again, it might be mind control, but I'm not sure that's the case."

 

"If it was mind control, why would it matter who you send on patrols? If everyone became an equal, elevated strength, it shouldn't follow a pattern like the raptor made it sound."

 

"Just because a species is mind-controlled, it doesn't mean that they're all equals. I still don't think it's mind control, though."

 

"Fair enough. Perhaps we can try to stop by once we're done here? If they have a queen, they must have a hub or something where she lives."
