"She certainly is." Linoa laughs.
"Mrow?"

"Nullmagic runes. We kind of trained him to be a distraction. Like, if you get a hard to kill thing stopping our foes from using vital spells, then they'll have to waste resources on trying to take him out, leaving them distracted and the rest of us with a lighter load."

 

"Do you want to lose your sense of self, or do you want to join the only people fighting to save everyone from the madman?" Stephanie asks, "Just because we're murderers doesn't mean we can't do something great. If you join the Hive Master, you'll never get to experience any of your normal life again, and you'll probably get killed when you're used as a pawn."

 

"I-I don't know..." She utters. "M-my sister joined to ignore the p-pain of these decisions. B-but I haven't suffered like her... I don't know w-what I want."

 

"Then why are you sad if you don't know what you want?" Stephanie asks.

 

"B-because no matter what I choose, t-there isn't an ideal outcome. I side with you, the Hive Master could come back and kill me. I side with him, and you could kill me without a second thought as you have thousands of others. I make no choice, and both sides give me hell until I do..."

 

"If you side with us, you have less chance of being killed, and you'll manage to keep your sense of self. You do realise if you join the Hive Master you won't be yourself anymore, right? Your life will just end there, you'll only come back to being yourself as you're killed." Stephanie says.

 

"Yes... t-that's why my sister joined him."

 

"So you want to commit suicide?" Stephanie asks.

 

Ali hesitates.
"N-no, not really... but it might be better than suffering."

 

"If you submit yourself to the Hive Master, that's just the same as suicide. Stick with us, and you stand a better chance at survival. Hell, Aj even has a realm he'll let you stay in if you ask kind enough." Stephanie says.

 

Ali shakes her head.
"Neither option sounds good, t-to be honest."

 

"At least if you stay in Aj's realm, you won't be a mindless pawn like your sister." Stephanie says, sounding disappointed in Ali.

 

"True, b-but a realm of darkness is not the place for us solar magic users."

 

"They have special measures in place for non-Shadows to survive. I've seen forest guardians like Artemis surviving fine, even though their barren realm shouldn't allow for them to stay there." Stephanie says, before sighing, "If you really wanted somewhere to hide that'd be naturally better for you, though, you could always try the Realm of Light."

 

"B-but... if they're willing to s-shelter refugees, why haven't they offered your group aid?"

 

"For one, I don't know if they are, and for two, things have been pretty tense between the two realms after their war. Considering we're travelling with the king and queen of the Shadows, I don't think they're going to be the happiest to help us." Stephanie says flatly.

 

"T-then why bring up the option if it's doubtful to even exist?"

 

"Because I want to help?" Stephanie says, "Listen, you really don't want to join the Hive Master. No matter what he says, he is most definitely the evil one here. He's mind controlling your gods for their sake!"

 

Crystal smiles, enjoying the flight.

I nod, taking note.
"Thanks."
I say, then jet off towards the bunk rooms.

 

Ali shakes her head.
"I... I need time. It's hard for the sheep to join the lion, and equally hard for it to go to slaughter."

Linoa stops at the Archives.
"Alright. Let's go." She says, hopping off.

You almost run into a draconian that's just waking up.
"H-hey, slow down around the... *yawn* ...bunks, will ya?"
