"Well, shit." Shadow Stephanie says.

"Do you think we should start investing in nuclear explosives, Stephanie?" I ask.

"Perhaps implosives would work better? A doomsday device that creates an ever hungry black hole would be good." Shadow Stephanie says.

"Well, I know what the scientists, technicians and robotics managers are going to be working on." I say happily.

 

"P-please don't... we wanted help beating the Hive Master, not help returning things to null..."

 

"Returning things to null would technically beat the hive master." I say.

"Nuclear explosives, I guess. Destruction brings creation." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Oh, gods... his propaganda wasn't fake..." Ali utters, having a nervous breakdown.

 

"Propaganda?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"Isn't propaganda designed to brainwash people?" I ask.

 

"Yeah, but you said that if you met any resistance, you'd wipe our home, urging us to band together to stop you... I-I don't know where it's more dangerous to be now..." She utters, starting to cry.

 

Katie gets up and hugs Ali, concerned.

"The hive master's here? In this dimension?" I ask, worried.

 

"Strings, figuratively. Sorry, I should've said that."

 

Ali hugs her back, a bit reluctant.
"N-no, but he had his followers out h-here... trying to recruit p-people on their own free will... M-my sister went in hopes of revenge..."

"It's alright. With Sapphire, it was a legitimate question."

 

I nod, seemingly taking note.
"Well, let's go!"
Crystal eggs on, enthusiastic.
"Standing around here won't help me with runes!"

 

"We're not going to blow your home up," Shadow Stephanie says, "We're going to blow the Hive Master's place up."

Artemis walks over with the new girl.

"Everyone, this is Angela. She's going to be travelling with us for a bit." Artemis says happily.

"H-Hello." Angela says nervously, before noticing me at the table and looking terrified.

"Th-There's two Shadows!?" Angela asks Artemis, scared.

"Don't worry, Angela. If you're with us, we'll protect you." Artemis says, smiling.

"I won't kill you. Probably." I say, smirking.

"Sorry about scaring you earlier, Angela. I just wanted to say hi." Shadow Stephanie apologises.

 

"True!" Linoa says, offering Crystal up on her staff.

"G-good luck, miss Angela..." The waitress says, slinking off back into the kitchen.

 

Crystal takes the offer, getting up on the staff happily.

 

"Ugh, we need to find these relics." Shadow Stephanie says, annoyed.

"We could always ask the people here." Katie suggests.

Stephanie gets up, heading into the kitchen and looking for Ali.

 

Linoa flies herself and Crystal towards the library before being yanked off by Muffy.
"Damnit, you!" Linoa says, laughing as she gets back on.

Ali's slumped against the wall, burying her head.
"K-katie? W-what do I do..." She asks, sobbing.

 

Crystal giggles.

"Know anyplace around here where I can get a rag?"
I ask Rineth.

 

"It's Stephanie," Stephanie says, walking over to Ali, "What's the root of your sadness?"

 

Linoa continues to the library, Muffy now also on board.
"You know, Muffy, you could've just met me in the library. I know you heard me."
"Mrow."

"Rag? Sure, there should be some towels and rags in the bunk rooms."

"I either side with a madman, or I side with a group of well-meaning murderers... i-it's a decision I c-can't make..."

 

"Yeah, Muffy's a cat alright."
Crystal says, smiling.

"Thanks."
I say, turning to leave.
"Oh, and, do you know what kind of runes Crystal was talking about?"
