"I'd say yes, but my sister would kill me if I gave them away for free, sorry."

She runs over to the girl.
"Water, miss?" She asks.

"Strings? You mean they made him into some sick puppet?"

 

"I-Is it free? I don't have any money on me." The girl asks nervously.

 

"Water is free, yes. Are you new here, too?"

 

"Y-Yes. Could I have some water, please?" The girl asks.

 

"Alright." The waitress says, subtly sniffing at the girl to identify her recent whereabouts. "Would you like a little bread, too?"

 

The girl seems to have a mix of smells. She smells a little bit of the forest and desert, but she has a perfume that smells of watermelons and lemons.

"Y-Yes please." The girl says.

 

The waitress goes in back before returning with a piece of bread and a glass of water.

 

"T-Thank you." The girl says nervously, taking a drink of water.

 

The waitress heads back to the main group.
"Well, my sister prices our homegrown coffee seeds at an Erdust for three. Does that sound doable?" She asks Stephanie.

 

"An Erdust...?" Stephanie asks, summoning her tome and flipping through its pages.

Shadow Stephanie seems curious about the new girl, getting up from her chair.

 

"Katie, care to explain Erdust and Shards?" The waitress asks.

 

"It's their currency." Katie says happily.

"Oh. Would you be willing to accept a trade of equal value, then?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Why not? Business has been good lately, though for all the wrong reasons." Ali sighs. "What do you propose?"

 

"What do you need?" Stephanie asks.

There's a scream of terror from the new girl's direction, as well as a clatter.

 

The waitress steps back, looking in the girl's direction.

 

The girl seems to have fallen sideways off her chair, tears running down her face as she looks at a rather confused Shadow Stephanie, petrified.

"P-Please, spare my life! I beg you!" The girl begs.

Shadow Stephanie awkwardly returns to her chair, embarassed.

 

"Uhm... do shadow beings have a poor reputation? Not including Aj?" Ali asks, uneasy.

 

"Considering our kill count and the old rituals and contracts, most people think we're visiting them to kill them." I say offhandedly.

"Yeah, most people are scared of us, since we can kill pretty much anything with ease." Shadow Stephanie says.

"I'll go see that girl you scared. Make sure she's ok." Artemis says getting up and heading over to the girl, helping her up off the floor and righting her chair before chatting to her.

 

"That... um... explains a lot, actually. I know it's the norm in your home realm, but... a few of our people joined some Hive Master because they said they wanted to keep you from wiping out our homeworld. O-obviously I thought that was crap, since I'm still here, b-but... t-that might be an important thing f-for you to consider."

 

"They submitted themselves to a hive mind out of fear?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"So...you don't want me to kill them?" I ask.
