"They do, but since you shapeshift, it's hard to get them to stay on."

"She made it sound like she was disinvited. Regardless, nice to see you're back. Mind introducing me to your friends? Minus Abigail, who we all know?"

 

"Whaddya mean? I can just shift and keep them on me."
Crystal asks, confused.

 

"That takes extra focus."

 

"Oh, well this is Aj, Artemis, Stephanie, and her Shadow, Shadow Stephanie." Katie says, pointing to each person as she says their name.

"Hello." Artemis says, noticing her name being called and giving a slight wave.

 

"Nice to meet you all!" She says. "I'm Ali, Rit's twin sister. I think you already met her, Katie!" She says happily.

 

"Uh..." Katie says, clearly not remembering who Rit is.

"Greetings, Ali." I say calmly.

"Do you know who made this coffee?" Stephanie asks, smiling.

 

"Ah, that's okay, Katie. I made it, Stephanie. Was it good?"

 

"Yeah, but..."
"Crystal, I suggest you go talk to Emerald about it. She can answer all your question about runes, I presume."
I intervene.
"But..."
Crystal tries to come up with something, but doesn't seem quite to be able to.

 

"It was amazing! How did you make it so thick and flavoursome?" Stephanie asks happily.

 

"I'll go with you, if it makes you feel any better." Rineth offers.

"It's normal desert bean! Sis and I grow our own here in the back!"

 

Crystal finally seems to get an idea.
"But Linoa still has to hold up her deal with Nilarq!"
He says, happily.

 

Rineth glances at her.
"You lost a game, didn't you?"
"I couldn't even pin him on cheating!"
Rineth laughs. "Lin it is."

 

"Game?"
Crystal asks, confused.

 

"Nilarq's quite the gambler. He got his combat skills from the less honorable side of questionable games with questionable people." Linoa explains, annoyed.

 

"How do you get fighting skills from gambling?"

 

"What do people do when they lose big bets?" Linoa asks, implying the answer. "You think they just bite their lip and let their fortune slip out of their hands?"

 

"Ohh."
"That's a lot of gambling."

 

"He used to play with Nyre all the time. Those two got so drunk, it was hilarious to watch!" Linoa laughs.

 

"Wow, do you think I could get some seeds for them? I'd be interested in growing some myself." Stephanie asks.


A young girl enters the cafe, looking rather scared and lost. Her hair appears to be black, curling outwards at the ends which fall just above her shoulders. The girl's eyes look to be a brownish green, and she wears a dark, midnight blue shirt with a picture of a wolf howling at the moon on it. A pair of grey trousers fall above a pair of regular black shoes. The girl nervously enters the cafe, not carrying any weapons on her, sitting down at the nearest available table and looking like she's trying to calm herself down.

 

"Knowing what I know of Nyre, I'll take your word for that."
"Who is Nyre?"
"Was. He was someone we fought against, died having his strings cut. I kept his crossbow, used it against Xelentia, then died, and now I don't have it."
"Oh, that crossbow."
