Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I don't even know where she went, I can only hope Aj has found her." Artemis says guiltily.

Artemis seems to enjoy the hugs.


"Do you think I'll ever hook up with a Shadow?" Abigail says, staring at the sky.

"Are you...suggesting something? Because my heart belongs with Artemis, I'm not going to cheat on her with you." I say, turning to Abigail.

"Oh-psssshh, no! I'm not asking you to be my secret boyfriend or anything. Get your mind out of the gutter." Abigail says, punching my arm lightly.

"It's just you're with Artemis, do you think I'll meet a shadow?" Abigail says.

"I don't know. I've known Artemis for a while, I think we've always had feelings for each other. You'll find someone, don't worry." I say, staring as the clouds roll by lethargically.

"Yeah. Maybe on second thoughts being with a shadow isn't so great. I'd probably unintentionally burn him, and I don't think I want some half-shadow half-flame guardian bursting out of me." Abigail confesses.

"Get your mind out of the gutter!" I say, punching Abigail on the arm lightly, laughing.

 

She buries her feet in the ground.
"I'll make sure they're okay."

...

AJ and Abigail see vines weaving in and out of the ground around them, and they slowly get closer.
Flowers sprout along the vines.

 

"Thanks Ihra." Artemis says.


"LOOK OUT!" Abigail screams, blasting one of the vines with a fireball. In shrivels away into ash.

"What the heck is happening!?" I say, getting up and slicing through one of the vines, "Artemis can't use her powers alongside telepathy and clairvoyance without being somewhat near, or causing a massive strain to her powers."

A visor slides across Abigail's helmet, it begins to target the vines, "We're not alone out here. Something with the powers of nature wants us dead."

I begin to wonder if Artemis really would go to such lengths to kill Abigail, though I dismiss the thought.

Abigail and I take an offensive stance.

 

The vines reel back, then weave themselves into a wall.
Flowers grow vaguely in the shape of letters:
"Are you ok?"

They wither and regrow.
"Is Ihra"

 

"Uhh, yes?" I say to the vines.

"Hey Aj, I just realised something." Abigail says.

"What's that?" I respond.

"We're in the middle of nowhere. Do you remember the way back?" Abigail says nervously.

My eyes widen in fear, "I've completely forgotten." I say.

"Helmet can't get a track on these vines, their magic seems to just source from the ground." Abigail says, looking around hastily.

"So we're completely lost?" I say fearfully.

"Yup..." Abigail says, equally scared.

 

The vines wither, then forms a small bulb.
"I can hear you through these. Step on the web, I can teleport you back."

A grid of vines grows to either side of the bulb.

 

Abigail seems sceptical.

"How do we know this isn't a trap?" She says to me.

"It sounded like Ihra, I think we can trust it." I say.

Abigail and I step on the web; Abigail extends her claws, not fully trusting it.

"I'll burn you with flames stronger than the depths of hell if this is a trap!" She says.

 

You find yoursef back next to Ihra, who immediately leaps behind Artemis (away from Abigail)

 

"Abigail! Look, I'm so, so sorry for what happened." Artemis apologises.

"It's fine. Aj helped me calm down and stuff." Abigail says, smiling at me.

Artemis runs over and hugs me, kissing me on the cheek, "I missed you," She whispers, "Thanks for helping Abigail."

"No problem, I'm glad you're alright." I say, smiling at Artemis.

Abigail looks at Ihra, "Uhh, I guess I sorta owe you an apology. Sorry for scaring you earlier." She says.

 

"It's okay... I just don't want to die to fire... I wanna make mother proud of me at least!"

 

"I might actually be able to offer you some protection against that." Abigail says, summoning a blue fireball in her hand.

Abigail's visor locks on to Ihra.

 

"Wh-what are you doing?"
"It's not an offensive weave, Ihra." Rineth mentions off to the side.

 

"Hold still." Abigail says, aiming the fireball with her visor.

The lock-on turns red on the visor, and Abigail throws the blue fireball toward Ihra. It seems to home-in on her.

The fireball engulfs Ihra, before quickly dissipating. Ihra seems to give off a cold aura.

"You should be fairly resistant to fire now." Abigail says, smiling.

 

She's shivering, but opens her eyes and notices she's not on fire.
"What happened?"

 

"I granted you resistance to fire for a while. You don't have to worry about getting set on fire anymore." Abigail says happily.

Abigail throws a small fireball at Ihra. It simply splits apart and dissipates when it hits her, causing no harm whatsoever.

"See? Nothing to be scared of." Abigail says, smiling.

 

She instinctively uses her staff to put up a barrier before it hits.
"I still... don't want to take any chances..."

 

"Suit yourself." Abigail says, shrugging.

"So uh, I thought we were going to Brisingr or somewhere?" I ask.

"I think I'm ready to fly again..." Artemis says, somewhat nervously.

Abigail seems quite pleased at the concept of flight.

 

"No, you're staying on the ground, or at least close to it." Rineth grumbles.

 

Artemis seems relieved, while Abigail has the opposite reaction.

"But flying is so much fun! Aj, back me up here." Abigail says, looking to me.

"As fun as it is, Artemis doesn't like heights; nor flight. I have to side with Rineth on this one, sorry." I say, a touch of resentment in my voice.

Abigail turns to Ihra, "Ihra, surely you like flying, right?" She says, giving Ihra a desperate look.

 

"I like flying. I'm just bad at it."
