Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh, you're Katie's mother? It's nice to meet you Aquira, but I hate to break this to you - I haven't caged anyone up since way back before I had been mind controlled!" She says sweetly, confused about Aquira's hostile mentality.


The starmap seems to not respond for a bit, then suddenly a hologram of a galaxy pops up above the table. It's hard to see in the desert sun, though.

"No, I don't."

 

"So you were mind controlled when you came to to my ship?" Aquira asks, giving Xlentia the benefit of the doubt; softened by the time spent with her daughter.

"I GOT IT WORKING!" You hear Abigail shout gleefully.

 

"Well, the one fixing stuff is Abigail, she's a really good engineer!"
Crystal points towards her.

"And that's Shadow Stephanie! She's really cool, and helped us get Abigail and get back here."
Crystal points towards her as well.

"Nice work!"
I say, proud.

 

Xlentia freezes up.
"I... was mind controlled again? So soon?!" She utters, distressed. "M-maybe I shouldn't have given that shadow such a hard time for putting this armor on me..." Xlentia sighs, seeming very nervous and embarrassed.

The creature turns to the starmap.
"Holy crap, you actually were able to salvage that..."

 

"See? She is good!"

 

Abigail smiles back, "Stephanie helped too." She says.

I step through a large portal in my obviously larger form.

"Hello, darling! Sorry to keep you waiting." I say kindly, giving Xlentia a hug.


"All in a day's work." Abigail says modestly, blushing.

 

"No kidding..."

Xlentia seems startled.
"I-I didn't know I was that weak..." She stammers. "I only remember dropping Katie off, giving Gaia a dragon ride where for some reason she never said a word, not even goodbye, and then I got armor shoved on me..."

 

"Yeah, I'm glad she came along."

 

"So, what was that about points on the map?"

 

"Ah, I can just tap into the mainframe... it won't actually show any data until one of my kind is wired in." They explain, their tail fitting perfectly into a slot on the back panel.

The starmap zooms out, showing two galaxies and dozens of star systems, all but one marked.

 

"Woah..."
"So, what are these marked places?"

 

"Oh, honey you were in horrible shape! You looked likee you were dead!" I say, shivering at the memories.

"You must have been mind controlled then. In that time you locked me up like a damn parrot." Aquira says, sounding annoyed.

You can see Shadow Stephanie grinning a short distance away.

Abigail watches the starmap in awe, her visor scanning over the circuits to make sure everything is running smoothly.

 

"Care to join us?"
I ask politely.

 

"Previous destinations, which he promised to update us with. So, if we..."
He zooms in on the one star system, five unmarked planets remaining.
"That's concerning. He'll leave our dimension when he finishes his search. You'll have to figure out how to get there, fast."

"I-I did? I'm so sorry! Gah... uhm... do you accept gold apologies?" She asks, shifting nervously.


The wiring is running smoothly, but Abigail will need more mage crystals sooner over later to keep it running without a generator.

 

"If we have coordinates and some names, chances are that that can happen."
I say, looking on the map for those things.

 

He double taps the star system, coordinates, trajectory, and 'names' (more like labels) for both.
"One problem; obviously our vessel will never fly again, so you're going to need to get this thing unbolted to the ground and in some other vessel."

 

"If we even use a vessel to fly. I was thinking portals, really, but I'm not entirely sure as to what all of the group has to offer."

 

He nods, remaining silent.

 

Shadow Stephanie teleports over, on the opposite side you were looking from.

"I'm a pirate, I don't need more gold." Aquira says flatly.


"Hey, Stephanie, do you have a generator at hand? This starmap can't run on it's own." Abigail asks.

"Oh, sure." Shadow Stephanie says, summong a large yellow mage crystal in her hands and putting it near the starmap. The crystal automatically begins giving it's power to the starmap, linking to the wires laced with mage crystal.

 

"Hey, Shadow Stephanie."
I address, trying to gain attention.
