Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

It's a lot easier to see with all the sand gone, though some of the wires are in pretty bad shape from erosion.


The lock seems to respond to souls. It has a strange interface as Eve approaches, but everything's scaled to Xlentia's size.

 

Abigail opens her crystal wheels again, switching to bright yellow crystals in both before closing them again. Abigail's gauntlets conduct electricity around them before Abigail tries sending a jolt of power to the starmap.


"Lock on door appears to respond to souls. Odd interface on lock, investigating." Eve says, trying to figure out how she might be able to interact with the interface.

 

The wiring incomplete, it sparks and shuts back down, Abigail narrowly avoiding a short circuit.


The interface freezes the moment Eve tries to manipulate it.
There seems to be a password box, but no keyboard.

 

Abigail thinks for a bit.

"How's the starmap?" Shadow Stephanie asks, appearing beside Abigail.

"It's damaged, but I think I can fix it. Just a matter of sorting out these wires. Do you have any spare?" Abigail asks.

"I could go get some. How many do you need?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"Probably enough to rewire this whole thing." Abigail says, cutting out a wire with her claws and scanning it to see if it's anything special.


"Lock seems to be restricted by password. No apparent way to enter text. Testing for vocal input." Eve comments.

"Test Password Variable." Eve says clearly to the lock.

 

The wiring isn't much special, but has a bit more gold than most wires, presumably because the starmap requires a significant amount of electricity.


The interface doesn't respond at all.

 

"Looks like this starmap needs wires that can carry more electricity than most." Abigail says.

"Mage crystal infused wires, got it." Shadow Stephanie says, disappearing.

A while later, Shadow Stephanie returns with a box of wires and conductive metals to connect them. Abigail starts replacing each old wire with a new one, soldering it where the wire once was.


"Vocal response failed. Attempting touch. Initiating automatic mode." Eve says, her hands detaching and taking a well protected box from Eve's chest compartment, flying it far from Eve. A new pair of hands replace Eve's lost ones, and Eve touches the lock.

 

Everything goes smoothly until it becomes apparent that there are two completely missing circuitboards...


Touch yields no response either.

 

"Shit." Abigail curses.

"What?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"This thing is missing a couple of circuit boards. I'm not entirely sure what it'd need, either." Abigail says.

"I can get some of the guys in the robotics lab to reverse-engineer a couple for you, see if those would work." Shadow Stephanie says.

Abigail takes out one of the circuit boards in the starmap, handing it to Shadow Stephanie who disappears with it.


Eve places her hand on the lock and attempts to connect to it, trying to interact with it on a software-based level.

 

The circuitboards are mostly basic, but they seem to be largely made out of something entirely foreign to the Shadow Palace - in short, it's impossible to recreate the circuitboards perfectly.


There is no software - it doesn't even react to the touch. Completely non-technological.

 

After hearing this news from her technicians, Shadow Stephanie decides to travel to the void palace library, heading up to the archives and knocking on Emerald's door.


Eve scans the lock too see what material it's made out of.

 

It telekinetically opens.
"Good afternoon, Shadow Queen. How can I help you?" She asks, not in sight.


It seems to be some runic steel.

 

"I was wondering if you knew what a certain material was, and where I could find it." Shadow Stephanie says, holding up the circuit board Abigail gave her.


Eve checks the runes on the steel, trying to decipher them.

 

Emerald appears, running her hand over the circuitboard.
"It's a plastic of sorts. Fetch low grade oil, redwood bark, and a quart of elven blood. I can take it from there, or your scientists would likely be able to be able to recreate it from there."


The runes aren't in a language she knows. However, knowing the Void Palace, the library would be the place to start.

 

"If you can recreate a couple of them, I'd be extremely grateful. I can cover the costs of the materials if needed." Shadow Stephanie says.


Eve's previous hands return the box to her chest compartment, and she blinks twice after a moment.

"Manual mode restored, reviewing collected data..." Eve says, pausing for a bit, "Lock appears to be mostly irrelevant. Progressing with mission."

Eve scans the doors to Xlentia's chamber, trying to find out their material.

 

"Problem is, we don't keep a big stock of blood or tree bark. We have the oil, so if you were able to get the other two, I could fabricate them for you."


They're an odd hybrid of magic and metal, traces of Light Pulse Rifle shots just about everywhere on them. However, the doors seem undamaged.

 

"So, repairable, most likely?"
I ask in the meantime. Crystal still fluctuates as armor.

 

"Is the blood specific? I can get the bark, but if the blood is specific to a creature, that might present a problem." Shadow Stephanie asks.


"Door appears to have undergone testing with Light Realm's weaponry. Suggests co-operation. Attempting attack." Eve says, her hands changing into two smaller cannons that charge up a powerful shot of darkness, growing in intensity and power. Eve fires the shot once it's about equal to thrice the power of a standard light pulse rifle shot.

"I believe so. Stephanie's just gone to get a couple of circuit boards so I can continue working on it," Abigail says, "I've mostly replaced the wires, though."

 

I quickly whip out my journal and sketch the area out. Once I'm done, I exit the cave and fly to a random direction.

 

"Good. The easier we can get to this guy, the better."

 

"Race specific. Must be elven." Emerald says.


The doors aren't even scratched, but this wakes up Xlentia.
"Emerald I'm under ataaahhhh" She groans, claws raking the door, though not leaving a scratch.
