Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"You just keep trying to lie your way out of your problems, don't you?" The captain asks.

"M-Mum?" Katie asks from a partially opened door.

"Stay in the ship, Katie." The captain says, serious.

Katie closes the door again.

"Most likely. What are your names? I'll see if the queen knows you." The guard asks.

 

"Thirteen, Crystal."
I point respectively.

 

"If you think you're tougher than me, why don't you open fire and see if that's true?" Xlentia challenges.

 

The guard looks the pair of you over, glancing up and down, before heading through the gates himself and heading into the palace.

A while later, the guard returns.

"Seems today's your lucky day. Queen says she knows the two of you, wants to see you personally. Go on in." The guard says, opening the gates for you and Crystal.

The captain draws her cutlass, holding it back before pointing it at Xlentia and shouting "FIRE!"

A volley of cannons shoot heavy cannonballs at Xlentia, and a large part of the crew rushes out onto the deck, all firing their guns at her, most aiming for her eye.

 

"Thank you."
I say, nodding to the guard, while Crystal is busy looking over the castle.

 

The entire volley bounces harmlessly off her and her eye and most head back towards the ship, Xlentia not even bothering to blink as she tauntingly moves her eye closer.
"Maybe you'd get more penetrating power if your target was closer?" She asks, seeming to be enjoying herself. "This reality is sooo much more fun than mine!" She giggles.

 

The palace stands loomingly over Crystal, the highest point stretching high into the clouds.

Once past the gates, you find yourself in a green garden, various forest guardians tending to the flowers and plants within.

Aquira glares at Xlentia, staring her in the eye.

"MUM!" Katie shouts, sprinting over to the captain and pushing her hard out of thr way of a cannonball, taking the hit herself. The force of the cannonball sends Katie crashing through the deck of the ship.

"KATIE!" The captain shouts, running over to where the cannonball landed. Another well dressed water guardian runs over to the hole too.

"YOU...YOU...YOU DEVIL! LOOK WHAT YOU DID! LEAVE MY SHIP AND NEVER RETURN!" Aquira shouts, before jumping down the hole along with the water guardian.

 

Katie feels no pain and feels no whiplash from the impact, an odd distortion shield around her that disappears with the cannonball as she sinks.
Xlentia doesn't budge quite yet, making a telepathic link with Katie.
"Hon, I'm sorry... I just wanted to see the happy reunion. I'll leave... I hope you have room in your heart for it, at least." She sighs, taking a step back.

 

Crystal is in awe on our way to go inside.
"Woah..."
"Hey, I didn't tell you something before we went in the portal."
"Yeah?"
"Don't use any light magic here, okay? It's a little obvious, but just reminding you."
"...Oh, yeah. Okay. I won't."

 

The water ripples and swirls beside Xlentia, and a blue-haired Gaia rises from the ocean.

"Sorry I'm late!" Gaia apologises.

"T-Thanks for saving me." Katie responds.

A pair of guards at the large doors to the palace open them for you as you approach.

"Ah, Mr. Thirteen and Mr. Crystal. Her majesty is expecting you, do follow me!" A tall Shadow with a book under his arm says once he sees you, ushering you and Crystal to follow him.

 

Xlentia sighs.
"Great, now I look worse. I swear nothing I touch ends up right..." She growls.

 

We do.
"The 'Mr' isn't necessary, but thanks."
"This place is huge!"
Crystal says, looking around.

 

"What's wrong Xlenty?" Gaia asks, concerned.

The captain and water guardian jump out of the hole together, the captain holding Katie and putting her down once she's on the deck. Katie hugs the captain, shaking, and the captain hugs her back.

"Yes, it has been sized to accomodate the king and queen's larger forms." The tall Shadow says proudly, heading toward a pair of large doors opposite the entrance doors.

 

"They said I was fake, so I told them to fire and see if I was one big illusion. The cannonballs bounced back at Katie's mom, and Katie tried to take the blow for her. Except I had worried about a stray hitting Katie, so she was shielded. Then you carry her up and look like you were the reason she survived the cannonball." Xlentia sighs.
"Whatever, hardly anyone likes me anyways. After I'm sure Katie's okay, I'll give you your dragon ride."

 

"Larger forms?"
"More of an understatement, but I guess it's about who you ask. They do have giant forms, though."
"Cool!"

 

"I like you!" Gaia says.


"I suggest you take your leave, now. Unless you want to prove your point as an evil creature, you've already done enough damage to this ship." The water guardian says, serious.

"You almost killed my daughter, you bitch! Was that your plan all along!? Pretend your her friend to lure her into a false sense of security before slaughtering her in front of her parents!?" The captain asks.

"M-Mum, I don't feel well." Katie says weakly, looking pale.

"The humourous thing is, that's actually their normal sizes. What we consider 'Normal' is actually quite small for them!" The tall Shadow says, approaching the large doors. A pair of large guards push them open, not all the way, however. The gap in the large doors is just big enough for you and Crystal to fit through.

"Go on inside, her majesty is waiting." The tall Shadow says happily.

 

"Thank you."
I say, before stepping inside.
Crystal trails me, and says
"Thanks!"
a while after I do.

 

Xlentia sighs.
"Your insolence will be remembered. And you?" She growls, pointing at the captain. "How about you get some of those earth guardians who to take a look at the coin I leave you as an apology?"
The large coin is placed back on the deck of the ship, Xlentia signalling Gaia to get on her back as she gets ready to take off.

 

A large pair of red eyes gaze down at you in a dark throne room. Once you adjust to the darkness, you can see Shadow Stephanie, extremely large, sitting in an equally large throne.

"Ah, Mr. Thirteen and Mr. Crystal. I've been expecting you." Shadow Stephanie says with a sinister tone.

"You weren't mean to these people, where you, Xlenty?" Gaia asks, confused.


"What, you want to kill some of my crew now by blowing them up or something with a fake coin?" The captain asks, doubtful of Xlentia.

The water guardian takes Katie back to the captain's quarters.

"Come on, darling. You're probably just in shock." The water guardian says as he leads Katie.

 

"I just told you, they called me fake, so I said they could shoot me. When they did, everything bounced off because I'm not an illusion. So, it's apparently my fault."

She turns back to the ship.
"Look, the coin is a gift for wasting your time. If you think it's a bomb, then go ahead and throw it away." She says bluntly, before turning back to Gaia.
"Well, are we going? I can't put up with these mortals anymore. How the hell did someone as sweet as darling Katie come from them?" She groans, pointing directly at the captain and the other guardian with her.
