"Avis showed me. I can't turn around here, but she shapeshifts into anyone who comes in so I know."

 

"Even though I looked different with my armour?" Katie asks.

 

"Yeah. She knew who you were because of your soul."

 

"Aww..." Katie says, disappointed, "So, um, Emerald said I should see you about the immortality thing?"

 

"Huh? Oh, right... if you die somehow in this reality, we can reconstruct your body three times."

 

"Like a video game?" Katie asks happily, "Three lives?"

 

"I guess, yeah. And, also kind of like a video game, gathering relics and stuff lets us be able to reconstruct more destroyed bodies, thus allowing us to reconstruct you an additional time or two."

 

"Like 1-Ups?" Katie asks happily.

 

"I guess... just you shouldn't treat them as such. Unless you really like getting killed."

 

"I...don't really like the idea of the whole resurrection thing, but I guess I don't have to worry as much about death," Katie says, "If I bring you one hundred of something, can you resurrect me again?"

 

Xephyr snickers.
"No, doesn't work that way. More like, let us study you and we can reconstruct you one or two more times."

 

"What do you mean by 'Study'?" Katie asks, suspicious.

 

"Sit still so we can better diagram your soul, body, and memories. The more we know, then we can reconstruct you with... even less of you."

 

"Oh, um, can you do it now then?" Katie asks.

 

"If you wish, sure. You'd have to go in the lab. They're the ones who would be reconstructing you from dust."

 

"Where's that?" Katie asks.

 

"Just across the hall."

 

Katie nods to Xephyr, before heading out of the cryostasis room and across the hall, hoping to find the lab.

 

The lab's right there, two draconians studying a hologram of Abigail.

 

"Oh, hey Abigail!" Katie says happily, fooled by the hologram.
