Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Only two?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Only two." Linoa confirms.

 

"...Thanks."
Crystal smiles.

I continue to watch, getting more and more interested.

 

"I guess two in a hundred isn't too big of a chance..." Stephanie says, thinking.

 

"Only one issue... I already warned your friends that what you had been doing is dangerous. You'd need to convince them a bit."

"It's the least I can do, sweetie."

Eventually, both assassins are exhausted and both opt to just rush down the other mage, both mages a bit slow to realize this and suffering a wound before getting a barrier between them and their opponents.

 

"I just need to get about a thousand charges though, right?" Stephanie asks.

 

"And the relics." Linoa says, nodding. "Again, don't worry about the charges too much. You may be able to convince a preserver to help out."

 

"Like who?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Emerald, Sapphire, Tourmaline, and so on."

 

"I think Emerald hates me, and I'm not sure about Sapphire. Who's Tourmaline?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Oh, right. Alice?" Linoa asks. "Also, I doubt Emerald really hates you. The only way to do that is to fuck with her books."

 

"I was reading in her library and she sort of kicked me out," Stephanie says, "I haven't heard of an Alice."

 

"Were you the cloaked figure? Also, your friends will, particularly Aj and Katie, I believe."

 

"Maybe," Stephanie says, smiling cheekily, "I wonder where Katie is. The others were talking about looking for her because she seems to have disappeared."

 

"She went home to get a charm, then sort of hasn't come back since."

 

Content for a bit, Crystal relaxes and lays down.
"Are you ever afraid that someone's doing that to you?"

I focus on the struggle between the rouge that was strength-boosted and the mage that was defense-boosting.

 

"So I guess she's still at home then?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Nope. I was for a time, but I killed that person."

Ironically, they end up taking each other out. The defensive mage gets cut badly in the torso, but the assassin is skewered with an electrified staff before he can get away, both effectively out of the battle as the last two stare each other down.

"Who was it?"

I bring my focus to the last two.

 

"I don't mean to sound too rude, but Xlentia sort of reminds me of them," Stephanie says, "She's sort of...disconnected from everyone else."
