Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I won't!" Katie says happily, before wondering how to get home.

 

Linoa ends up opening a portal to the Shadow Realm before leaving, waving.

 

Katie waves, heading through the portal, looking around where she is.

 

She's just outside the palace gates as the portal shuts.

Katie can hear a frustrated scream echo from the palace, voice sounding like Alice's.

 

Katie heads into the palace, looking around for Alice curiously.

 

She's in front of her house, sulking at a binder.

 

Katie walks over, "What's wrong?" She asks.

 

Alice seems shocked.
"S-shit, I actually screamed that loud, didn't I?" She grumbles. "Um... I was given a set of facts, but they contradict each other, thus the agency really has no case. I don't know how to tell my boss they gave me a load of crap."

 

"'You gave me contradictory information, this isn't a case'?" Katie suggests.

 

"Let me back up... Boss gave me a case, but the intel we have contradicts each other. I'm not exactly in a position to tell that our intel on this is crap, but... it is."

 

"How does it contradict each other?" Katie asks, intrigued.

 

"One person's got two alibis, and both check out for the exact same time and date. If it was a shadow, I could understand, but it's a guardian."

 

"Maybe they're lying? What type of guardian is it?" Katie asks.

 

"Fire guardian, both present at the palace and home at the exact time a crime had been committed. The Palace Guard verified the first location, and his wife said that he was already asleep when she got home a few minutes prior to the crime, but it was definitely a conscious body. He has no twins or anything, too..."

 

"So maybe his wife was lying?" Katie asks.

 

"Everyone in his neighborhood verified that they saw him go in and never come out, passersby postman included."

 

"So, isn't this an even greater case instead of no case at all? How did he manage to be in two places at once?" Katie asks happily.

 

"I don't know. Hell, he's already been confirmed not to be the criminal!"

 

"Then who was the criminal?" Katie asks, trying to calm Alice down.

 

"That's what I'm supposed to be focusing on. But I can't."
