Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Katie hurries over to her double-trident, retrieving it and holding it tightly before poking the ceiling with it.

 

She's sucked up back to the surface, Lidnis coming up afterwards.
"You'll have to leave the weapon at the door pretty much everywhere. Sorry."

 

Katie sighs, holding her weapon tightly. Katie glances up toward the sun, shielding her eyes, to see how hot she can expect the desert to be.

 

The desert heat distorts the air, but a ring of frost coming from Linoa's staff offers respite from the suffocating heat.

 

Katie sticks close to Linoa's staff, already sweating a lot.

 

Linoa notices, increasing the intensity of her spell as she treks across the desert, glancing at the map.

 

Katie is soon breathing heavily, exhausted, the spell just enough to keep her from passing out.

 

Linoa picks her up and balances her on the staff, continuing the trek as Katie's on a fifty-below-zero staff, her sweat freezing her to it.

 

Katie hugs the staff, enjoying the coldness of it as her hair deepens in colour; seeming to have paled whilst in the desert.

 

"Should talk to Abigail about a heat resistance charm." Linoa says, grabbing Katie along with her staff as she taps her foot into the bank.

"Welc-holy shit, what happened to the desert heat?!" The teller asks, quickly losing their composure as Linoa's staff starts to warm up.

 

Katie seems rather uncomfortable as the area begins to warm up again, though tries to stay calm and collected.

 

It doesn't warm up much underground. The temperature is comparable to the forest.
"Hi, I have a friend here who may be interested in opening an account."
"Oh? What might your name be, Miss?"

 

"Uhm, Katie. Katie Aceius." Katie says.

 

"Katie... Ace... i... um, could you please spell that out on the form here?" They ask, handing her a clipboard, form, and pen pointing to a name slot.

 

Katie writes out her name neatly, handing it back.

 

"Thank you... I need your age and names of anyone you may wish to share your account with. After that, you're done! And this time, first name and descriptions will work fine."

 

"Uhm, I'm seventeen, almost eighteen, and I think I just want to keep the account to myself." Katie says happily.

 

"Okay! Aaaand... done! Since you're an outsider, you get fifty Erdust as a welcome gift to our society." The teller says, handing Katie a small bag, then dropping ten sandstone coins in it. "Thank you for coming! It's nice to see brave new faces around here."
Linoa smiles at the teller's contentment.

 

Katie looks at the bag, feeling the coins within.

"So...one coin is 5 Erdust..." Katie figures out.

 

"Well, with those, yes. Those are five Erdust coins, and then there are one, ten, twenty, and fifty Erdust coins. Then there are smaller coins called Shards, and one Erdust equals one Shard. Make sense?" Lidnis asks post-explanation.
