Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Does anyone else know about this being?"
"Neither of us are great at keeping secrets."
About half of the southern wall is ravaged at this point.

"Master, I can carry them. Should I bring them, or leave them?"
Xephyr hesitates to leap after you.

"I'd be careful those don't get stolen, but it sounds like you're set. If you don't mind, I'll leave you to your... well, I'm not sure if it's closer to being your child or your pet. Whatever it is, good luck. Don't get frozen."

Tirai flies off, and the hatchling tries to imitate him.
It doesn't get anywhere, but I guess it's a start...?

A storm rolls over head. You can hear some thunder, and the rain seems to freeze the moment it comes in contact with the hatchling. It looks like a big walking ice cube.

She walks out, looking okay.
"Maybe later, but I'm not very hungry now. I don't know if this world has the things I eat, but I figure I'll find out soon."

"She eats a specific few kinds of plants." Rineth adds.

 

"What sort of plants? I might be able to grow them." Artemis asks sweetly.

"She just gets stranger and stranger..." I mutter to myself.

 

"A few things native to her homeworld. She can grow them on her own, but be wary of which one she tries to give you. The orange ones contain a catalyst that interacts with the gland that produces her corrosive spit."

"I could show you some, but I'm not hungry and you just ate."

 

"Interesting; I've encountered a few plants and fruits before that have certain effects on people, though I guess Ihra's are specific to her species." Artemis says.

"Often mundane plants and fruits are given power through alchemy; certain plants are essential to special potions. It's quite surprising the powers nature has." I say, smiling at Artemis.

I stretch, "So, uh, are there any people that might be considered hostile around? I feel like doing some killing." I say, my eyes glowing slightly.

Artemis sighs, "Killing for sport? I thought better of you, Aj." Artemis says with a disappointed tone.

"It's not for sport if it's for the protection of Ihra!" I say, winking.

 

"How am I supposed to be a healer if you keep killing things?!"
"Ihra, just... Aj, don't empty this world of its inhabitants. You'll anger its gods; they won't be as forgiving as Ihra."

 

"Pfft, I've taken down gods before. They're the only fun things to kill since they can actually prove a challenge." I say offhandedly.

"Aj, I think you should take heed to his warning." Artemis says with a serious tone.

"Oh! Do you remember that Sea Demigod I killed!? That was so much fun! He tried to drown me and I just swam through it and stabbed him in his eye!" I say excitedly, thinking back.

"Yes, but I think you should take note of what you've been told." Artemis says.

"And that Volcanic God! Oh that was awesome; dodging those jets of lava was so intense!" I say energetically.

"Are you even listening?" Artemis asks with an annoyed tone.

"What about that Sky God? He kept trying to blast be away with jets of air, then shock be with thunder, and I just couldn't be stopped!" I say, pretending to attack an enemy with Shadow Katana, whilst dodging around.

Artemis lets out a heavy sigh, unable to hide her smile at my antics.

 

Ihra pins you to the ground with vines.
"DON'T!!" She shrieks.

 

Artemis increases the amount of vines, "Maybe you should have listened to those warnings." She says, picking up Shadow Katana to observe it. Artemis looks down at me and smiles. I give her an 'Are you serious?' look.

"I never said I was planning on killing the gods of your world. I just wanted to kill a few of the inhabitants. A very small number. Only a few hundred..." I say innocently.

Shadow Katana disappears from Artemis' hand, appearing in it's sheath on my back.

 

"You're a monster."
Ihra spits on you, melting the vines.
She lays on Rineth, keeping an eye on you.
"Ihra, be lenient. Mother's killed more than that."
"But... but he just... he... fine."

 

"Took you long enough to figure that out." I say, getting up, "I only wanted to kill the bad ones. I try to go against my species' impression of being genocidal demons who only wish to kill."

"Aj, as well as other Shadows, are very valuable companions to have around. They can easily dispatch hordes of enemies within seconds." Artemis says, smiling at me.

"Good thing you got me protecting you, and not wanting to kill you eh?" I say in a laid-back fashion, winking at Ihra.

"Impressions may change an opinion on that statement." Artemis says, giving me a wry smile.

I narrow my eyes at Artemis.

 

"They can follow us as soon as they want to... I'm more concerned of the side-effects of Idala's gift."
Idala's eyes suddenly glow purple. A purple aura starts to surround her too.

 

Ihra shivers.
"Can I pretend I didn't hear that?"

Rineth grumbles something in another language, then Ihra nods.
"Sorry."

"Understood."

Xephyr has a much easier time keeping up with you in this body.

 

"Speaking in different languages now?" I say, proceeding to say something in a different language to Artemis.

"I have no idea what you just said, Aj." She responds.

I seem rather disappointed.

 

The purple aura turns more into a purple glow.
Idala is clearly at the centre of it. Lines of powerful magic are appearing in the air around her and spiralling towards her.
"MOTHER! It's starting!"
Hythania activates a shield. Wisps of magic are pulled off the shield as if something is trying to drain it, unsuccessfully.
You feel a slight drain in power, even at this distance.
Even I shudder slightly as the invisible wave of power draining washes over us.
Idala shouts, in a voice which once again doesn't fully sound like her, "I FEEL YOUR POWER!"
Then she collapses to the ground. Hythania rushes towards her and pulls a purple phial out of a satchel she is carrying. She forces the now unconscious Idala to drink it.

 

"You have no business knowing what I just told her. Is an apology not enough?"

"Erm... I take it the Drakonshade has fallen off first place in our priority list?"

 

"Sorry..." I say, "The apology is accepted; however not needed. I would be surprised if Ihra wasn't afraid of the concept of a genocidal demon standing a few feet away from her."

"You're not as corrupt as you think you are." Artemis says to me.

 

"Are you a... uh... genoal... demon?"
"Genocidal."
"What's that mean?"
"They actively look for things to kill."
Ihra's eyes widen.

 

I give Ihra a sharp toothed smile, before teleporting behind her; placing my hands on her shoulders.

"I guess you could say I am, considering the amount of murders I've committed..." I say with an evil tone right next to Ihra, "However, unlike some Shadows I don't kill without good reason to. I'm not going around mercilessly killing whoever I encounter. If I did, Artemis, the others, and you..." I pause.

"Would all be dead." I whisper to Ihra, my eyes flashing.

"So it's a good thing I go against my instincts eh?" I say in a lighter tone.

 

"Maybe I shouldn't have healed you. Mother mentioned a small group of exceptions."
"Ihra, just... it's fine."

 

"Oh please, I don't plan on hurting you. I plan on protecting you," I say, "You have no reason to fear a creature of darkness who is capable of easily killing a god and can kill everything around it in around a second, and who's supressed instincts is telling it to kill everything in sight with the exception of Artemis."

Artemis blushes a little.

I give Ihra a big smile, "Your mother would probably kill me if you were to meet an early end too."
