Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Sapphire, come and meet the detective." I say quietly, grabbing Sapphire and dragging her toward Alice regardless of her answer.

 

She uncloaks as she resists, and Alice passes out at her desk upon seeing Sapphire.

 

"Ugh, brilliant." I say, searching for the elusive coffee machine before giving up and simply getting a cup of water, pouring it over Alice.

 

She jolts awake.
"HOW THE HELL?"

 

"Miracles." I say, waving my hands.

 

She rolls her eyes.
"Well, now I just hope that I don't have to be heartbroken if she dies because we're on separate halves of the divide." Alice sighs.
Sapphire just breaks down in tears.

 

"The divide?" I ask.

 

"Yeah, the Hive Master isn't letting up so easy. Getting rid of Ruby gets rid of part of the curse. Here's where it really sucks; we are split amongst the remaining ten of ourselves, into groups of five. We do not know how we are divided, but one entire half must die for the others to be freed. If we do well, five of us will remain. At worst, one." Alice sighs, trying to comfort Sophie.

 

"So it's either continue a death battle to fully remove your curse at the cost of five to nine of your siblings being killed in the process, or keep everyone alive but have to suffer your curse?" I ask.

 

"Exactly." Alice sighs. "Obviously, some are worse than others. A few I know are that Sophie here cannot feel joy, Emerald will suffer horrible memories hand-picked by the Hive Master if she lets even a sliver of her mind become idle, and Diamond can only communicate with others by tearing their souls with his voice."

 

"So...who's on which side, and what are their curses?" I ask, summoning a notepad and pencil.

 

"None of us know. The only way to get any clues would be to appease the Hive Master himself..." Alice growls, disgusted at the thought. "Curses, I'll tell at a later... better... time."

 

"Wait...what if the Hive Master dies instead?" I ask, de-summoning both items I recently summoned.

 

"Then we get no chance at hints at all."

 

"Oh, well shit. We were gonna kill him because he's evil and stuff. I guess I could always try and steal his brain if it's still intact..."

 

"He did say one thing; that the divide is neither opinion nor role, which means we are not split solely by our jobs as commander or preserver, and we are not split solely by our pacifist or warmongering natures."

 

"That doesn't really help. I say I go kill the Hive Master, throw his brain to the people in the computer labs, see if they can download the information from it and then give you guys information on who to kill." I say happily.

 

The two sisters look at each other, and simultaneously say, "Whoever's against Peridot is pretty much screwed."

 

"I guess we have a winning side already then." I say, shrugging.

"Aj...can we go...?" Abigail says, laying against the doorway and looking depressed.

"Oh, yeah sure. I'll just finish chatting with Alice and Sophie." I say, smiling.

"Thanks..." Abigail says, depressed.

 

"What's wrong with her? Hit to the ego?" Alice asks, almost unsurprised. "Our reality's a bit tougher on everyone than yours, it seems."
