Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Abigail wants to go home for a bit. I said I'd take her back with you." I say, taking out a sandwich and throwing it to Katie. Katie seems surprised, but manages to catch the sandwich. I throw Artemis a sandwich, who catches it without even opening her eyes. I offer Abigail a sandwich, who takes it and unwraps it, biting into it before I throw Stephanie the last sandwich. The sandwich bounces off Stephanie's head, and she looks peeved for a moment before noticing the sandwich beside her.

"Thanks!" Stephanie calls back.

 

"Why do you wanna go back? It's nice here! Nobody to threaten you, lots of nice people, and nice weather either here or the desert all day! Besides, I said I didn't want to go back!" Sapphire says happily.

 

Abigail just stays quiet, eating her sandwich and sticking to herself.

"No, I meant I'd take you to the Shadow Palace to see the detective, and then I'd take Abigail back home." I say flatly.

 

"Oh. Why would I see the detective?" Saphire asks, unaware. "It's cold there!"

 

I sigh.

"Let's just go." I say, offering Abigail a hand. Abigail takes my hand and I help her out of her lava pool.

I open a portal to the realm of shadows, stepping through with Abigail.

 

Sapphire seems hesitant, but Linoa comes and offers her a hand, sighing.
"Just go in, grandma. Aj's honest." She says, urging a still hesitating Sapphire through the portal.

 

Sapphire finds herself in the detective's offices, Abigail waiting by the exit; strangely uncaring she hasn't got any clothing on except her underwear.


I head over to Alice's office and knock on her door.

 

Sapphire seems confused, cloaking nervously.

 

I simply wait for Alice to open the door.

 

Alice does, half-awake.
"Mnnotsleh..."

 

"Alice, I have a new job for you, and only you. I have a client who's lost her siblings, and she needs your help to find them." I say formally.

 

"Mn-gghk-shit uhm... P-please repeat that, my king!" Alice utters, jolting awake.

 

"I have a client who's lost her siblings. I'm sure a fine detective like you could help her find them," I say, "I could've sworn there was a coffee machine around here..."

 

"Y-yeah... who's the client?" Alice asks, resorting her pillow of papers.

 

"They're just out here near the entrance, you can come meet them." I say, pointing toward where Sapphire was standing and a barely-clothed Abigail.

 

Alice glances out, then turns to you skeptically.
"Why exactly does the esteemed guest both have hardly any clothes and is my client?"

 

"What?" I ask, looking where I'm pointing.

"No, not Abigail. Dammit, she was standing right there," I say, frustrated, "ABIGAIL! WHERE DID OUR FRIEND GO?"

Abigail just lies against the wall, looking depressed, before shrugging slightly.

 

"Hah, you make it sound like you managed to get my sister out of her hidey-hole! Seriously, though, who's my client?"

 

I sigh, "Give me a moment." I say, walking over to where Sapphire was standing, checking on multiple layers of reality to try and find her.

 

Sapphire's hiding around the corner, shaking.
