Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Stephanie just remains quiet.

There don't appear to be any notes, the calm potion seems rather simplistic; the description by the author enough to explain it all.

 

I look up from the tome.
"Well?"

 

Stephanie just sits there, silent, avoiding eye contact.

 

"I'll take that as a 'yes'."
Pause.
"Do you want to talk about it?"

 

"I was just...embarrassed and stressed." Stephanie mutters.

 

"Alright."
I take the answer.
"You wanted to show me something in voodoo?"

 

"That was just to change the subject, but you can read a chapter of voodoo if you want." Stephanie says.

 

"There's nothing about voodoo that you want to show me?"
I ask, flipping in the direction that she used to change the subject.

 

The scent brings the armadillo-wolf back as she cooks.

"We can't.
SORRY, WE HAVE TO GO. CAN WE ARRANGE SOMETHING ANOTHER DAY?"
"SURE!"
Linoa ushers you outside, sun setting.
"We gotta be quick."

 

"Oh, uh, okay."
Crystal waits for Linoa to take the lead.

 

She offers you help up on her staff.
"Come on. Almost lost track of time."

 

Crystal takes the hand and gets up.
"Then let's get going."

 

"I guess there are a few things." Stephanie says, taking her tome back before flipping to the chapters on voodoo, reading it out to you as she reads.

Artemis doesn't seem disturbed as she prepares a few of the mushrooms, however I seem rather annoyed.

"Not for you." I say sternly, arranging the fire.

 

I go back to my spot next to her, and listen, as well as look at the tome.

 

Stephanie explains a chapter on prevention and protection from voodoo, reading every note and detail about it happily.

 

I listen intently, making sure to capture the most important parts.

 

Stephanie eventually reaches the end of the chapter, before pausing.

"Want me to read the next chapter?" Stephanie asks, glancing toward the others, "It looks like Aj's making a campfire, so we could always check that out instead if you wanted."

 

"Keep reading, if you don't mind. I'm interested."
I smile, waiting to listen

 

Stephanie reads the next chapter. It seems to detail various long stories about voodoo, it's practises, and research on it. Stephanie seems to enjoy reading it out to you, not seeming to tire too much as she reads.

 

The staff zips across the desert, carefully weaving through trees as she lands just outside the base camp.
"They've been busy, it looks like."

It grunts, taking a few steps back but clearly hoping for leftovers.

Linoa and Crystal arrive, just barely before subset.
"Sorry, hard to keep track of time when you're underground!" She giggles.
