"If you really want to read it, you can. It's just...rather lewd." Stephanie says, sighing.

 

"Alright."
I stop hugging Stephanie, and scoot back a bit.
"Whenever you're ready."

 

Stephanie flips the tome back to the page with the potion on, handing it to you to read.

 

I take it gently, looking at the potion and reading information on it.

 

The tome reads:
"Potion of Sexual Pleasure.
My studies on this potion have lead me to believe it has a different effect on males and females, though one trait rings true for both: During fornication or procreation, it aids the process immensely by increasing the amount of pleasure the consumer feels. This effect does not seem to carry to the other partner, however. I believe these effects come from the feelings of love from the base of this potion, the Love Potion. If changed to a more personal nature, this turns to feelings of immense pleasure. Greater doses of this potion lead to increased pleasure, however come with ironic effects; the most noticeable being decreased fertility rates. These effects mostly come into play with higher doses, however, so regular doses, even with short delays, do not seem to bring any of these effects.

The potion has a distinct taste of cherries, with a slight hint of dandelion."

The potion appears to be very light pink in colour, stored in a heart-shaped bottle like a love potion.

Stephanie still seems somewhat embarrassed, even after calming down.

 

"That's it?"
I ask casually.

 

"The basic description of it." Stephanie says, embarrassed.

 

I check if Stephanie has any notes on it.

 

There appear to be a few notes written at the bottom of the page:
"Mixing the potion with a love potion does not seem to create the feeling of sexual desire for the person in the forefront of the consumer's mind. It appears to simply nullify most of the effects as the love potion is a base.

Partners are not strictly required to gain the effects of the potion, as I thought. The potion appears to simply heighten the amount of pleasure one feels from sexual experiences, the method used to achieve said experience a non-factor.

Mixing the potion with a hate potion seems to corrupt the potion, in most cases emitting a foul smell before exploding. Consumption of a corrupt potion, however, creates a strange mix of hatred and sexual desire towards the person in the forefront of the consumer's mind, mixing with the ideas of another species' similar sounding feelings."

Stephanie seems even more embarrassed upon noticing you read her notes.

 

"It's only embarrassing if you let it be."
I state, serious.
"It's a section on potions, of course there's going to be some less-humane subjects in here."
I look for any more notes she might've put.

 

"I-I know, it's just...p-personal and private matters." Stephanie stutters, looking embarrassed.

There don't seem to be anymore notes; the potion either not studied much, or the studies on it not written down.

 

Linoa eventually rings it again.
"HOLD ON!!"

You end up accidentally picking up a giant stick...bug.
Other than that, everything goes without a hitch.

 

Artemis and I head back to the group after a few hours of foraging, Abigail watching from her lava pool; her lower body formed enough that she decides to keep only her head above the surface. I start setting up a campfire, while Artemis starts putting some of the mushrooms on sticks, prepared to cook.

 

"I guess that part's nonnegotiable, hm."
I guess.

"We should wait."
Crystal suggests.

 

"It's something I'd rather not let everyone know about," Stephanie says, embarrassed, "There are certain things you do you generally don't tell others about."

 

"Alright, that's fair enough."
I agree.
"Are you okay with showing me the page on that green 'calming potion'?"

 

Stephanie takes the tome back, looking through a few pages and chapters before handing you the tome back. At the top right of the left page, the words 'Calm Potion' are present above a depiction of a dark green phial.

 

"Is there something I need to know?"
I ask before looking down into the tome, reading about the potion.

 

"What do you mean?" Stephanie asks.

The tome reads:
"A dose of this potion appears to cause the consumer to go into a state of calm. Stress levels are radically decreased after consumption of this potion, and in larger doses, the consumer becomes drowsy and their reaction speeds are reduced. This aspect of calm potions can be used to create sleeping potions by extracting the ingredients that cause the feeling of drowsiness.

Small doses of calm potions are heavily advised. Larger doses or over consumption of calm potions can put the consumer to sleep for an extremely long time, and in most cases, often leads to a coma and heart failure as the body slows down. I recommend waiting around two hours after the feeling of calm wears off to be safe."

Past the basic description, the tome details the exact effects of the calm potion on the bodies of both humans and animals, the ingredients effects within the calm potion, and various other details around the calm potion, going into great depth like almost every other description in the tome.

 

"I mean that it's probably not okay to take four vials of the stuff in one gulp."
I say, checking for any notes.
