"We haven't done much. Most of our activity thus far has just been recuperation and getting a little home base set up here."

The drow blocks the clone from entering.
"Our elder does not permit weaponry in his quarters. Not even from us."

 

"Ah, does that mean that the group has changed their base of operations to this world?"

 

"Oh, alright then." Artemis says, taking off her bow and quiver and handing it to her wooden clone. The wooden clone stands guard outside the hollow tree, aiming at anything suspicious.

 

"Not really. It's just a secondary branch of operations. Think of it like an outpost."

The drow enters with Artemis, the stump falling out to a dimly candlelit room, a well decorated drow wearing bulky robes sitting on an ornately carved throne.
"Are you the otherworld guardian Artemis?" They ask, voice sounding like they don't have time for games.

 

"Ah I see. And is the group still going to fight the Hive Master?"

 

"Yes, I am Artemis." Artemis says, bowing out of respect.

 

"I am Ygran, Drow Elder. I wish to talk to you about... two artifacts that may be of interest to your group."

 

"I am very interested to hear, Elder Ygran." Artemis says respectfully.

 

"There are two scales, one large and one small. They each are imbued with godlike energies, but they have been of little use to us. One is in the posession of the Anubi, which you may have heard have taken a disliking to your group. The other is in the hands of the humans... but you will have problems doing so."

 

"What sort of power do these scales bring?" Artemis asks respectfully.

 

"They seem to be pieces broken off the two gods responsible for the Cataclysm."

 

"Cataclysm? Is that the cause of the large ravine?" Artemis asks respectfully.

 

"No, but it is responsible for the extinction of 95% of life on this planet."

 

"What was on that page?"
I ask, curious.

"Who's that?"

 

"Eviala, the Daughter of Gaia. She used to have power over the land, air, and seas until she fell."

 

"So, they were her followers?"

 

"That's...shocking to hear." Artemis says, stunned.

"A potion." Stephanie says nervously.

 

"Why don't you want to show me?"

 

"It's umm...a umm..." Stephanie pauses for bit, "A, uhm, special potion, that, uhm...I don't think is v-very good."

Stephanie appears to be extremely uncomfortable.

"Let's read about voodoo!" Stephanie says suddenly, flipping through the pages in her tome to a few chapters on voodoo.

 

"Well, what's so bad about the potion? What's it do?"
I seem intent on persisting with the questioning.
