Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I'm pretty tired, so I'm going to take a rest." Stephanie says, before finding somewhere to lie down.

Abigail doesn't seem to be passively lighting things on fire, though she does dig a tunnel down with lava to see how far down the lake is.

 

The lake is about fifty meters deep.
She ends up burning through a corpse of sorts.

 

Abigail sighs, filling in the tunnel up to about twenty five meters before filling it with lava and getting in.

 

...

In the morning, the armadillo-wolf seems to have slid in with you, Artemis, and Sgavrinn.

 

Artemis pushes the armadillo wolf out of the house once she gets up, heading outside. I follow Artemis shortly after.

A skeleton with half of Abigail's face looks out of the lava pool, seeing who's around.

 

It grunts, going back in with Sgavrinn who continues to sleep.

There's a drow staring right at her.

 

Abigail waves a skeletal hand at the drow.

"Oh, hey Abigail." I say, noticing Abigail and walking over.

"Hey, Aj. Any chance you want a skele-hug like old times?" Abigail asks, smiling with half her face.

"Uh, maybe when you have more of a head..." I say.

"Hm?" Abigail asks, touching her face. Abigail dives back under the lava.

A while later, Abigail re-emerges, her head and hair looking much more complete.

"Skele-hug?" Abigail asks, smiling wide.

I kneel beside Abigail's lava pool and hug her, Abigail hugging me with her bony hands and arms.

"This is nice." I say, content.

"Hey Artemis, you want in on these skele-hugs?" Abigail asks happily.

"Sure thing, Abigail." Artemis says, walking over and hugging Abigail too.

"I'm glad we're friends." I say happily.

 

The drow watches, curious.

The armadillo-wolf also seems interested in the group hug, but keeps a distance from the lava.

Off to the side, you can see an old annoyance; the lackadaisical beast with the aggressive tail.

 

"This is really nice. I'm glad you guys are here for me when I'm sort of unable to do much." Abigail says happily.

"It's mainly the skele-hugs." I say jokingly.

"I'm really glad mother gave me this necklace so I don't try and kill you again." Artemis says, smiling.

"Yeah. Remember when you had that stage where you really wanted blood?" Abigail asks happily.

"I've still got a heart." I say, pulling out a cinnamon heart.

"Uh, no thanks Aj." Artemis declines, looking sort of grossed out.

 

The wolfadillo lets out a grunt to ruin the moment, waddling off into the forest.

Sgavrinn lets out a yelp as the beast seems to have entered the shelter.

 

"Hey!" I shout, running over to the shelter.

"Ugh, the animals around here are much clingier than the ones I'm used to." Artemis says, annoyed.

Abigail throws a bit of lava toward the beast. The lava ends up landing on the mud and fizzling through it.

 

The slow-witted beast chokes out its tail, which nipped Sgavrinn.

Ragnyon offers a dumb comment.
"We're new faces. If some new species showed up on earth, wouldn't you be curious?"

 

"Sure, but I'd observe rather than interact." Artemis says.

 

"What if you had bad eyesight?"

 

Artemis sighs, "How would I know there was a new species then?" She asks.

 

"Smell? Being really close? Weird new footprints?"

 

"I guess I'd respectfully try to get close enough to see it then." Artemis says.

 

"They don't know what we consider respectful. And for all we know, it saw a warm shelter and spent the night for comfort."

 

"Uhhh, the one that shows a forest and a desert once you get through."
Crystal thinks about how to answer.

I just look from afar, happy to see Stephanie show up.
I never entered the hut for the night, it seems.

 

"I don't know. That girl... as a Voidwalker, I should turn her in to Xlentia for execution, but as a witch, I want her to remember what she did to me. And live with it. Forever." She utters grudgingly. "Yet... my husband sees something in her I simply don't."
