Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"You just sit on it. Not that hard." Linoa chuckles.

The fruit is blood-filled...?
Seems she's angered an Ent.

 

"How do you not fall off, though?" Abigail asks, confused.

Stephanie puts her leg over the other side of the broom, before flying up through the trees to get a better look at the forest.


"Sorry!" Artemis says, delicately re-attaching the fruit to the Ent. Artemis holds her fingers up in a peace sign, while calming the Ent with her powers.

 

"You put it between your legs and lean forward. Fancier witches can just sit off to one side, though you do have to be careful to balance yourself at that point.

The Ent groans, slowly going dormant again after knocking Artemis out of its branches.

 

Stephanie glides back down, sitting on one side like Linoa described.

"Well, can we go to the desert instead of just yapping about witch stuff?" Abigail asks, impatient.


Artemis catches herself in a large flower, picking herself up before climbing back onto Rineth.

 

"Why don't you open your eyes, Abigail?" Linoa says, pointing at the sand below them.

"You okay?" Sgavrinn asks, still walking alongside Rineth.

"Aj, how far is the village? Also, the ground's getting a bit too marshy for me to carry you all here."

 

Abigail looks down.

"God damn witches and their magic teleporty bullshit." Abigail mutters.


"Yeah, I'm not too badly hurt." Artemis replies.

"Just past the giant lake." I say.

"Giant lake!?" Katie asks excitedly.

"Yeah, there's this huge lake with a thing in it." I say.

 

"We've been flying the whole time."


"Okay. Also, did anyone invite that... armadillo thing?" He asks, suspicious of the creature tagging along curiously.

One of Rineth's feet starts sinking, and it takes him a minute to pull it out.
"I'm sorry, you're gonna have to go on foot from here. I'm too heavy to walk through here."

 

"Whatever..." Abigail says, landing on the sand.


"No...but it seems harmless enough." Artemis says.

Artemis and I jump down, while Katie ends up faceplanting into the marsh.

 

She can see the ground shift slightly near her, something moving away.


Sgavrinn seems to be enjoying the mud a lot more than Ragnyon, and Sapphire uncloaks as she slides off Rineth.

The armadillo-wolf lets out a moan before leaving the swamp.

 

Abigail blasts the ground with a fireball, suspicious.

"You shouldn't do that, Abigail. Remember what Aj said about giant worms?" Stephanie asks.

"It was a movie, god dammit!" Abigail says, frustrated.


Katie pulls herself out of the mud, looking like some horrific creature of the swamp from the front side.

"Where's the lake?" Katie asks, mud dripping off of her.

"I think it's this way." I say, heading through the marsh.

"Mud is very good for the skin." Artemis says happily, enjoying the feel of the muddy ground between her toes.

 

The sand turns to glass, a sand shark visible darting away.


Sapphire follows you, not thrilled about the mud.

Sgavrinn shoves his snout in the mud, then playfully flings some at Artemis.
"Please, not now!" Ragnyon moans.

 

"Eugh." Abigail says, creeped out slightly.


Artemis playfully throws some back, before Katie throws some at Artemis and Sgavrinn playfully.

"MUD FIGHT!" I shout, pelting Artemis with a fistful of mud. Artemis laughs, throwing some back as Katie gathers up mud before firing it at the pair of us. Artemis and I team up, throwing a load of mud back at Katie before Artemis turns and hits me in the head with mud. I fall to the ground, before picking up some mud and hitting Artemis in the chest, missing her head.

 

"Well, Aj did say a land shark creeped him out. Guess they're real."


Ragnyon, to her irritation, is dumped off as Sgavrinn uses his wings to swamp both you and Artemis as he tries to splash Katie with his tail.
Sapphire cloaks and hides behind a tree.

 

"I just hope they're not hostile." Abigail says, walking across the sand.


Artemis uses vines to double her hands and rapid-fire mud at Sgavrinn as I aim for Katie. Katie dodges Sgavrinn's splash, only to get pelted by a pair of my shots. Katie grabs as much mud as she can and hurls it over to Artemis, knocking her over and covering her in mud. I fire another pair of shots at Katie, Katie dodging one only to get hit by the other, the mud getting in her eyes. I take the opportunity to hit Katie in the legs with a hard-thrown piece of mud, causing Katie to lose her balance and fall into the mud also.

Artemis, Katie and I all start laughing, realising how silly the mud fight was.

 

"If it was, it could've tried to bite you. Or do anything other than flee."


Sgavrinn, humming happily, soon starts letting out pleading cries; his splashing got him a bit stuck.

 

"I guess." Abigail says, glancing up at the sun with her visor down, enjoying the heat. Abigail's visor seems to be tinted a little darker than usual, operating like sunglasses.


Artemis uses two pairs of vine hands to simultaneously push and pull Sgavrinn out of the mud.

"I think we need to get to the lake now." I say, getting up. I'm almost completely covered in mud.

 

Linoa keeps quiet.
"Hey. 'sit just me, or are we being watched?"


The vine hands end up sinking the mud and trees into the lake, the entire group splashing down into the water.
Sgavrinn ends up clinging to trees to stay afloat easier, while Ragnyon appreciates being able to get around her own in the water though.
Sapphire uncloaks and just stands on the surface.

 

"By whom, or what?" Stephanie asks quietly.


Katie changes her lower half into a fish tail, swimming around in the water. I swim around in the lake, trying to get the mud off while Artemis lies back on the surface, relaxed.

Katie decides to jump out of the lake before diving in, swimming into the depths.

 

"Feels like humans." Linoa whispers.


The 'lake' seems to actually not only go under almost the entire forest, but also the mountains off to the side seem to have sank into submersion.
Katie also sees a giant sea serpent coiled at the bottom, its size consisting of practically the entire bottom of the lake/ocean.

 

Stephanie glides down to Abigail.

"Hey, Abigail, can you check for nearby life signs with your visor?" Stephanie asks quietly.

"Uh, sure." Abigail says, tapping her visor. Abigail looks around as her visor scans for movement and heat signs.


Katie swims down to the sea serpent, poking it gently.
