Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Actually, the band itself marks the couple and the date they made vows. Our horns will slowly grow little notches and indentations that we can use to identify how many years it's been as well as how much time we spend together and how well we feel about the relationship. Rineth's would look slightly different than mine, being he had different feelings towards me."
She pauses.
"The patterns only show years past. The circlet itself gives the date."

 

Crystal seems amazed and slightly confused.
"Woah..."

 

Linoa points to a set of four jewels, one red, one teal, and two black.
"That means we were married on the fourth month..."
She then points to eighteen jewels, half white and half blue.
"...And that represents the eighteenth day."

She then points her finger to an odd, curving line seeming to come out from under the bracelet, along with little notches along the edge.
"Each notch is the measure of a millennia, and the total length of the line is how long we have been bounded by marriage." She explains.

 

"Huh."
Crystal mutters, focused. He's obviously interested by the subject.

 

There are hundreds of growth patterns on Linoa's horns, except she turns her head after a minute.
"Every draconian's are different. Some have less ceremonial adornments, others have crowns fused to themselves."

 

"Like, king or queen crowns?"

 

"Yeah. We fuse stuff to our horns all the time. Xlentia did it to the point they became flexible tendrils rather than horns!" She laughs.

 

Crystal laughs, too.
"She's certainly got some to spare, at least."

 

Linoa starts laughing harder.
"No kidding!"

 

"How many does she even have? I just glanced, didn't really take the time to count."

 

"How many what? Tendrils?"

 

"Horns."

 

"Forty."

 

"Oh, wow. Lot of decorating options."

 

"Oooh yeah."

 

Crystal seems to get an idea.
"Are they ever used for battle? Is it... bad or something to use your decorated horn as a weapon?"

 

"Oh yes. It's normal, but battle damage makes them harder to read."

 

"Is there a way to regrow horns if they get cut? Like, during a battle."

 

"No increased regeneration. Whatever history is cut, unless retrieved, is unfortunately lost. This... leads to long horns being a beauty statement in the women and intact horns being a prideful sort of battle scars for the men."
Linoa seems to hesitate.
"It... also leads to identity crises. A draconian often relies on their horns to relearn who they are in case of amnesia. If the horns are lost, then it's difficult for them to take someone else's word that they are who they are."

 

"That's... weird to think about. Does amnesia happen often? I know it's a thing that happens, it just seems weird to bring it up."
