"What?"
Crystal asks, as I just wait for him.

 

"Let's just say I'll quit my job if you actually manage to get him on your side." Kyle says, serious.

 

A stray golem walks over, inspecting the group before walking on.

"Last I remember, Phoebe kept herself in the centre of the island, in her own sort of lab." Tenebrae says, looking around.

Gaia gets up, looking toward the island's middle.

"Well, let's get going." Gaia says happily, starting to walk into the island's middle. A massive tree can be seen protruding from a large forest taking up most of the island.

 

"Oh. Well, I mean, I didn't really want to do that, but he doesn't have to fight if he doesn't want to."
"Is he against us, Kyle?"
I ask, minor fear in my voice. A bit startled, Crystal seems to be waiting for an answer.

 

Ragnyon starts to come to her senses, glancing at the golem.

"Against? No, but you'd need to convince him to join you."

 

"Okay, good. He did just leave a war and the war left him, though. With an exchange like that, you're probably right in the fact that'd it be hard to get him to fight."

 

"There you go. Exactly it. Though, worst case scenario, he listens to you and then leaves without a word. He's less likely to side with the opposition."

 

"If we can even find him."
"Yeah, what are the chances of that?"

 

"Ever considered trying making yourself of interest?" Kyle suggests. "If you don't think you can find him, try making him find you."

"We could? That sounds like a pretty good idea."
"But is the guy that just walked away from a huge war going to care much about what's in tomorrow's paper?"
"What?"
"Newspaper, an item that was distributed in mass letting many know about popular people, items, and general things. Sometimes called 'tomorrow's paper'."

Considering a lot of the story is yet to come and there have been like five retcons at least, there isn't too much understanding

"Hey, your guess is as good as mine."

 

I just shrug, but then I seem to remember something.
"Hey, you have just dummies in the training area, right?"
"Oh yeah! Thirteen and I were gonna try out something."

 

"Yeah, hang left and all the way back. You two have fun, I might see ya tomorrow!"

 

The golem appears very delicately made. A light blue crystal resides in the centre of it's chest, and it's arms and legs appear to be made of many joints to allow flexibility. It's body appears to be made of a metallic substance, most likely iron; though patches of moss grow on it.

Gaia and Tenebrae enter the forest of the floating island, and the sound of birdsong fills the air. The forest is incredibly dense, strange plants growing all around as insects fly past. A few golems can be seen wandering through the trees, one of them stationary with it's hand outstretched. A bird hops around in it's hand, curious.

 

"Thanks."
"Bye!"
Crystal enters, and we make our way to where Kyle said the dummies were.

 

Ragnyon rubs her eyes, partially in disbelief.

There seems to be two groups; one where the dummies are stationary, and another where they phase in and out of the physical plane.

 

Crystal rushes over to the latter group, as I follow him and analyze it more.

 

They're on a timer that makes them able to hit or transparent and unable to touch. There's a safety feature where they won't become physical if something else is there where they try to be.

 

The pair make their way through the forest, Gaia holding Ragnyon as stable as she can while Tenebrae leads the way. A few birds land on Gaia's shoulder, before flying off shortly after.

Tenebrae brushes past some crystal wind chimes, causing them to play a rather pretty song. Eventually, the pair make it to a clearing where the massive tree resides. While huge to Tenebrae and Gaia, it's gigantic compared to Ragnyon.

Tenebrae walks up to an area between the roots of the tree, drawing a strange rune on it which begins to glow, causing a pair of wooden doors to slide apart and reveal an elevator down into the depths of the floating island. The pair walk in, and the elevator shakes a bit before slowly descending. The entrance doors close, but orbs of yellow and purple light seem to phase through the elevator as it moves, keeping the shaft lit.
