Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I think for about a minute.
"Have you ever heard of a draconian called Vesius?"
"Vesius? Who's he and what's he got to do with this?"
I turn to Crystal.
"He was the draconian the introduced me to all this. He wore a black rove with red detailings, but carried what I'd assume was a darkness-imbued rapier and a light-imbued broadsword."
I turn back to Lyxa.
"Does the name sound familiar at all?"

 

"Curious. I do not see why it has been protected so, it is certainly not going to die soon." Mortius says, intrigued.

Gaia's attention is caught by the light, heading back to the frozen ocean. Gaia keeps her eyes open for signs of life, both so she can see if the hellhound is coming back to her, seeing through her golem to entertain it, and so she doesn't accidentally step on anyone who might be freaking out that there's a giant goddess wandering the desert they live in or explore.

 

"Perhaps the flower itself holds a significance. Magical abilities or symbolism perhaps."

 

"Perhaps. There doesn't appear to be any other of this species in this area, either. I can see why they would want to preserve it if it is close to extinct," Mortius says, looking around, "It is always a tough job to claim the last of a species."

 

"I agree. Sometimes less than honorable means must be used to claim the last of a species to preserve it."

 

"It certainly helps. Though, when its time comes, I shall be there to take it," Mortius says ominously, "I believe that's what the mortals call fate."

 

"I believe so too."

 

"Are you judging this realm, too?" Mortius asks after a pause, curious.

 

"The realm I am currently residing in, yes. I'm mostly for keeping it though. You can really squeeze a lot of enjoyment and fun out of the place when you go to a random area, assert yourdself, and watch as people declare war on you."

 

"War is pointless. Gaia and I especially hate it. All it does is create more spirits for me to move on and more lives to claim, and kills hundreds of the living because people with power are too scared to confront each other; so Gaia's creativity is wasted." Mortius says, though remaining calm as he speaks.

 

"Despite that, war drives innovation. The mind can create surprisingly innovative ideas from war. From one realm I visited, they achieved a major technological breakthrough while in the middle of a realm-consuming civil war."

 

"There is an aspect of balance, however. Is war an appropriate price to pay for technological advancement?" Mortius asks chillingly.

 

"In my eyes, it is." I say, "Well, at this point I've been so desensitized to war and death that casualties really are just statistics for me."

 

"Everyone has their time to move on. Death is but a transition." Mortius says forebodingly.

 

"Perhaps that was what I used to think." I reply, "Deducing from your knowledge and philosophies on death, I assume you are some kind of reaper?"

 

"The mortals over time have given me the name 'The Grim Reaper' as I have interacted with them. Though truly, my name is Mortius, God of Death." Mortius says, his name inciting a slight fear within you.

 

"Ah, pleasure to meet you. I am Dominus Terrae, Destroyer of Worlds. People call me 'God of Destruction', but I personally prefer 'Destroyer of Worlds'"

 

"No wonder I sensed we shared an element. It's a pleasure to meet you, Dominus." Mortius says, extending a bony hand for a handshake.

 

I accept the handshake. "So, what are you doing here in this universe, assuming you come from an alternate reality."

 

"The Goddess of Darkness, Tenebrae, invited me to explore it. She was rather enamoured about the concept of alternate realities and travel to them, and wanted to meet who she believed was her alternate self. I'm here much for the same reason, and to keep Gaia and Tenebrae under control," Mortius explains, "I find myself often having to calm Gaia down. She can get a little...over emotional over certain things. I recently had to stop her from an angry outburst upon hearing about someone called the 'Hive Master' enslaving gods in this universe."
