Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yeah, Onyx is sort of the Shadow Palace's cat. I don't think it's anything official, she just sort of showed up one day and has mostly stayed in the palace ever since." The Shadow explains.

Onyx's mood changes, purring and rubbing her head against the Shadow's chest.

"Aww, good kitty." The Shadow says, stroking Onyx. Onyx gives Emerald a sly look as she's stroked.

 

Emerald winks at Onyx.
"Well, she's welcome here as long as she doesn't try to make off with mistress' gold. She's... erased people because of it in the past."

 

Onyx purrs happily.

The Shadow puts Onyx back on the ground.

"Well, I guess she might as well roam free. She's pretty adventurous after all." The Shadow says, smiling.

Onyx looks at the Shadow, then at Emerald.

 

I smile.
"That's bad, too."

 

Emerald slips a ring on Onyx' tail.
"You won't get far here without this. It'll deactivate if you're holding gold, for obvious reasons."

"Not blocking is how you open yourself up. Broadswords are slow, so don't even try to be as agile as a dagger user."

 

Onyx becomes rather curious of the ring, trying to paw at it and activate it.

 

It doesn't react to the pawing, hold falling off.
"It works automatically. Only functions here. Pretty much makes every step take you the distance of a thousand, but reacts to your thoughts so you don't go careening into walls." Emerald says, putting the ring back on.

 

Onyx tries running across the library with the ring on.

 

It doesn't seem to work very well here.
"It's mostly for the hallways. Albeit, for a cat, you still covered twice the distance a draconian could running in the same amount of time."

 

Onyx rubs up against Emerald, purring, before running out of the library to explore.

"Heh, I wonder what adventure she's on now." The Shadow says, smiling and shaking his head before getting back to work.

 

"She definitely had an oh-shit moment as she bolted from mistress' chambers with gold in her mouth. Anyhow, my apologies for the interruption. Orders are orders."

Onyx probably wishes she didn't explore. Not everything has been cleaned up yet, and this side of the palace in particular reeks of corpses.

 

Onyx doesn't seem put off all to much, however she looks around for any fish or meat left behind, her hopes not extremely high, though.

 

The corpses are all singed, mostly eaten by other chimera of sorts that are wandering around, or entirely disintegrated.

On the subject, one seems to be looking curiously at Onyx, letting out a quiet "mew" before taking a nervous step back.
It doesn't look anything like a cat, though...

 

Onyx seems rather scared by the chimera, taking a few fearful steps back before darting for her life away from the corpses.

 

The chimera goes back to eating the bones of the fallen, crunching sound audible in the distance.

 

Onyx runs as fast as she can, looking for anywhere she can hide, or at least someone to hide behind.

 

There are giant statues practically lining either side of the hall. She could take her pick or keep running, though she can't hear the chimera following her.

 

Onyx jumps onto one of the statues, quickly climbing it before looking down to see if anything followed her.

 

There's nothing following her...
...but something yawns just below her, hundreds of teeth in the gaping mouth of... something.

 

Onyx becomes petrified, clinging on to the statue tightly before letting out a fearful meow in a call for help.
