Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Alice approaches her queen and kneels, bowing down to the ground.
"I... um... I apologize for my outburst, my queen... I-I pray you can forgive me for it and my past."

 

"You're a changed person now. What's in the past stays in the past," Shadow Stephanie says, "Besides, it'd be a little stupid to kill you during your own ceremony."

 

"T-thank you, my queen." She utters, hastily going back to Katie.

"Okay, now I really need to get writing. See you in half an hour?"

 

"Aren't you going to stay and enjoy the ceremony?" Katie asks, confused.

 

"I won't take the entire time, but we've got a speech to make in thirty." Alice says, smiling.

 

"Alright. See you in half an hour for your speech!" Katie says understandingly, smiling.

 

Alice waves before darting off.

Ten minutes later, she appears to join the festivities.

 

"So, Miss Sleepyhead decided to join us eh?" Head detective Yxun says, walking over to Alice.

 

Alice sighs.
"I thought you hated me enough to try and make me look stupid in front of the royalty after I accidentally merged with you."

 

"I'm just kidding," Head detective Yxun says, smiling, "If anything, you sort of deserve a lie in after all the work you've done."

 

"I was actually hoping to get a lesson or two from Kyle, first, but he seems to be busy."
I say, gesturing to the match.

 

"No I don't. That was a day's worth of work. I'm sending in my filing cabinets. THEN you'll be impressed. I deserve less than this, but I'll take what I can get after living on the streets for a dynasty."

"Not for long. My apprentice is ignorant."

 

"Don't sell yourself short, what you did was something none of us have done in a long time. If you can do something like that every day? Well, darn. You'd probably keep the city cleaner than a bar of soap." Head detective Yxun says, clearly proud of Alice.

 

Alice sighs.
"Gangs kept me boxed in for centuries. I have HQ locations dating centuries back."

 

"And damaged. And unable to keep distance."
I add.
"How long have you been teaching them?"

 

"Year. They never pay attention."

 

"Unfortunate."
I draw my attention back to the status of the battle.

 

"Don't worry about that now. Enjoy your ceremony, everyone's off work anyway," Head detective Yxun says, "Except the chefs, waiters, and guards, that is."

Yxun walks off, striking up a conversation with a few people unknown to Alice.

"Scared about your speech?" Abigail asks, seemingly appearing next to Alice.

 

Just in time to watch Kyle bash their brains out.
Kyle just glares at them.
"Wasting my time, truant."

"Nope." Alice says, turning to Abigail.
"Not after a death threat."

 

"Haha, from who?" Abigail laughs.
