Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Alice cuts the link to the queen, leaving you the sole recipient.
"Should I... um... tell them I'm not a shadow? My friends... and the queen... deserve to know the truth, I think..." Alice asks nervously.

"I... I'm gonna eat before I even think about that." Alice laughs, starting on her meal.

 

"Up to you. I'm sure the kingdom will be accepting either way." I say.

 

"I... I'll tell Katie, but I can't face the queen and say it... she just... scares me a bit."

 

"Yeah, Shadow Stephanie is rather...unique." I say, glancing at Shadow Stephanie. Shadow Stephanie twirls her twin daggers in each hand, throwing them up and catching them in different hands.

 

"Cool. I'll leave it to you then, A-aaaah, m-my king... sorry."
Embarrassed, she cuts off the link before you can respond.

After finishing, she pulls Katie aside.
"Hey, um... can I tell you something in private?" She asks, uneasy.

 

"Sure, what is it?" Katie asks happily, curious.

 

"Y-you know I'm not really a shadow, right? Just... cursed to have a shadow body?" She asks.

 

"Oh. I didn't. But, that doesn't change anything about you right? You're still the same person I met a few days ago, right?" Katie asks.

 

"Well... kind of. Truth is, I've been living here since before your friend became the king. M-my real name is Alin'raata, a-and I'm also called Preserver Tourmaline... since I was forced into a shadow body, I longed to be a shadow... so I made an identity as one." She says, hugging Katie. "I'm sorry I hid the truth, I just want to stay out of the mess my siblings are in..." She sniffs.

 

"That's ok. You're still a great friend, Shadow or No Shadow. You can be called Alin'reh, uh, Alin'reta, s-sorry," Katie says, struggling to pronouce Alice's real name, "You can be called whatever you want, but you'll still be a friend to me. Besides, we all have our own secrets we like to hide. Sometimes, it's for the best."

 

"Just... Alice." She says, relieved. "Thanks for everything, Katie."

 

"No problem!" Katie says happily, smiling.

 

"Well... I need to make a speech out of a really really sudden change, so... um... maybe think of something to say in case I call you up to speak with me?" Alice asks, sheepish.

 

"Oh, sure thing. I'd be honoured." Katie says, surprised.

 

"If it weren't for you, I never would've got the job." Alice says happily. "Now, I better go get ready. I... uh... am not very used to this side of the law." She admits.

 

"Huh?" Katie asks, slightly confused.

 

Alice pauses.
"U-um... I used to get by from being a cross-gang neutral messenger... as I became trusted with darker secrets, the more I wanted to quit. They threatened my life, and I threatened to rat them out. That stalemate went on until I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't know things got as bad as they did in that mine..." She utters.

 

"Well...at least you're on the good side now!" Katie says positively.

 

"Y-yeah..." Alice sighs.

She links with you.
"U-um... you should have the detective agency check my filing cabinets at home... I... um... I've been tracking the gang activities for centuries..." Alice utters, shaken.

 

"Oh, really? I guess you've really gone above and beyond the call of duty, then." I say happily.

Shadow Stephanie walks over to Alice.

"If I'm guessing right, you're absolutely terrified of the forthcoming speech right now, correct?" Shadow Stephanie asks, looming over Alice in her taller size.
