Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Alice wipes her eyes a bit.
"Take me somewhere private, please..."

 

I think for a moment, before Alice and I disappear.

Alice finds herself in a strange dimension, the area entirely white. Piles of seemingly random objects are littered around the dimension.

"Nobody should be able to hear anything we say here except you and I." I say, appearing in front of Alice.

 

Crystal looks at the plants, seeing if there's any he doesn't recognize.

 

"O-okay... My real name is Alin'raata. Ever since I was cursed to have a shadow body, I was too scared to show myself to my other... um... Preservers or commanders. Some know me as Preserver Tourmaline. My siblings also don't know that we must kill each other to be truly free... and though I may hinder that, I cannot bring myself to the thought." She sobs, breaking down. "I stumbled across the Shadow Realm and felt at home... I've lived here since before you even became King." She admits, still crying. "Please, I beg... I just want to be away from the gangs, my king..."

Most of them. There seems to be a section per planet; some generate a mist, others warm their surroundings. There's a full spectrum of colors at least visible from next to any angle.

 

"Oh, like Ruby and Emerald right?" I ask, grabbing a tissue from one of the nearby piles of items and offering it to Alice, "And sure, you can stay in the realm. You can keep your house in the palace too, since you don't have anywhere to stay."

 

"Y-yes, exactly... T-thank you, your highness..." She sniffs, accepting the tissue. "Just... please don't spread that..."

 

"I'll keep it to myself and myself only. Shadow Stephanie already knows you're not a Shadow, but I won't tell her about your identity," I say kindly, "If you want I could set up a payment system for you so you don't need to do a job, at least, not a complex one, if you don't want to."

 

"I work in espionage... I'm fine as a detective. I can handle the case easy. Give me a day, and you'll have a twenty page report on the situation." She says. "A-and thank you so much."

 

"No problem. Sorry about the whole situation leading to your job, had I known about this problem sooner you wouldn’t have needed to arrange a meeting with Shadow Stephanie and I, I could've just given you the job," I say, "Now, we should probably get out of my pocket dimension before people start wondering where we've gone."

 

"Y-yeah. Thank you, my king."

 

"Again, no problem. Consider yourself an esteemed guest of the palace and royalty." I say, smiling before Alice and I disappear again.

Alice and I appear back where we were standing in the Shadow Palace.

"I'll go explain to the head detective about your abilities as a detective, try and get you put back on the case," I say, "You're welcome to come with, or you can go spend some time at home."

 

"I'm gonna go home and get ready." She says, waving and walking off.

 

I wave back, before heading into an elevator and teleporting away.


A transparent guard greets Alice once she returns home, opening the door for her.

 

"Thank you." She says, content.

Shifting papers can be heard for hours.

 

Crystal walks along the path, seeing if there's any that particularly stick out to him.

 

Nothing much other than a flower with black petals so thin, you can see through them.
It looks extremely delicate. Or, at least, delicate enough to warrant putting a glass box around it.

 

Nothing disturbs Alice the entire time, she's left to herself.

 

After a checkin call, sleep, and breakfast, she heads to the detective's office, a bit nervous.

 

The detective's offices are rather quiet, the detectives themselves working on their cases. The head detectives office stands out ominously at the end of the room.

 

Alice nervously and silently approaches it.
