Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Uh...a nice drink!" Artemis says, "It's nice to see you're feeling better."

 

Drastic switch to shock.
"There's something other than water and poison?"

For having clocked as many years in existence as she has, part of you feels like she ought to be a little more in control of herself at this point.

 

As we go past each pillar, the darkness starts swirling around them.
At the first pillars, the wall started to glow more.
At the second, faint etchings start to appear.
At the third, the etchings are clearly visible.
At the fourth, the etchings actually turn out to be cracks which are spreading quickly.
At the fifth, the darkness from the pillars behind us starts to swirl around us too. We feel a strange dizziness.
At the sixth, I say, "Don't worry, this is just a side effect from the portal. If you aren't already used to this sort of thing, you soon will."
At the seventh, the wall seems to smash inwards and light blue light spills out. Gravity seems to change from being below us to being inside the portal.
When we fall through, darkness completely envelopes us. Gravity now seems to be coming from everywhere as we spin through the darkness.
Then it stops and we are left in somewhere very dark with nothing around us.

 

"Well... certainly feels like home. Dark, cold..."
Her eyes have a faint teal glow.
"I don't know why I like this place."

 

"Yes? Have people been feeding you only Water and Poison? There's other things out there."

I whisper something to Artemis, she seems to understand.

"I...have to attend to some business." I say before disappearing. Artemis senses my presence nearby, however I'm nowhere to be seen.

 

"Well... I've only not gotten sick from water, and poison makes people sick... wait, someone's been feeding me poison?"

 

"Most likely; if you wanted, I could test whatever you're given to make sure it's not poison. I'm immune to it."

 

"Well, I'm not melting, so I'll take your word for it. There's just a funny taste in my mouth after that..."
She spits on the ground, and a foot deep hole corrodes as a result.
"Better." She mumbles.

 

Artemis gives an odd expression.

"That's...rather odd. Why did you spit out acid?"

Artemis thinks for a moment.

"Acid is a liquid that's very dangerous, and can melt through most things."

 

"It gets rid of bad tastes in my mouth. Also, it makes AJ act funny. Isn't all spit poison like that?"

 

"Welcome to the Void Palace."
There definitely seems to be some sort of light, though very faint. My eyes seem to be used to it.
You can faintly see fourteen pillars, in two rows. This time, however, they are very large. There seven different colours, one of each colour on each row: black, gold, silver, lime green, white, blood red and finally... it doesn't seem to be a recognisable colour. It seems to shift to various colours.
There seems to be a large gate behind us too.
"This is the Void Hall. Each pillar represents different parts of history: the time before everything existed - if you can call that time, when the world was created, when humans and other beings started to exist, then... when the first King of the Darklands was born, the time when the whole kingdom was united as well as other events, then the Wars of the Doomed and the War of Ruin, and finally... well, usually the latest pillars are a recognisable colour which can be used to predict the events which happen, but this time the pillars change between different colours so fast that we can't tell if there even is a colour or what it might be."
I look towards depictions on the walls behind each pillar.
"And those show the events which happened, and very rarely ones which have yet to happen. The ones behind the seventh pillars... seem to have started. That one, for example, looks just like someone falling through a rift. It looks like others are barely starting to form too."
There are lots of strange depictions on other walls, some of which don't seem to make sense. Maybe if looked at closer...

 

"So it's like a record... interesting. Is there any danger in getting closer?" Xephyr looks closely at the pillars, especially the first two sets.

 

"No...and it makes Aj act funny? Usually I have to get him to ingest the Nature Elixir first...interesting."

A bloodied bone flies past Artemis' head, just missing her by a small space. Artemis grins, "Nice try, but you missed." She says, turning toward a darker area.

 

"Ihra leaps towards her staff, a shield visible around her.
"What?!"

 

"Don't worry," Artemis says, "It's just Aj getting sassy."

Artemis seems to direct the last statement more towards the darkness. She catches another thrown bone in her hand.

 

"There isn't any danger, but some memories held by the pillars can be... disturbing. Especially at the red pillars."

 

"I see..." He glances up at the ceiling again. "Very well then, I shall see to it that the people know you have given them your sincerest apologies, and you can be on your way."

 

She snickers, sitting down again.
"I can't blame him. Melting isn't fun."

"Having the only memories of those she's done with be their screams is somewhat disturbing. I doubt it can really be that bad..."
She goes straight at the red pillars.

"So you DID want something else of me... I'm horrible with implications. Say it or don't."

 

I reappear next to Artemis. Blood stains my mouth and hands, though I seem completely unscathed.

I sip a strange red liquid from a mug, "I know you're talking about me." I say.

"Did you not bother to clean yourself off? You're all bloody." Artemis says, looking over at me.

"And what would I use to do that?" I reply, grinning.

 

I toss AJ the rag I always keep with me.
"Here. Black on bright red may look good, but dark red on black doesn't."
