Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Crystal jabs at the upper shaft Nilarq's spear, hoping to connect or threaten to the point of Nilarq backing up.

 

"Er, no. I've been fine." She says, seeing the cut and starting to feel guilty

 

Alice takes it, still unsure of the affair. "Thank you." She says, trying to calm her nerves.

The researcher isolates a few seeds in some sort of vaccuum tube, then disconnects it from the system and puts them in a small container, popping the lid on.
"Be careful with them. I want to solve the problem, not spread it." They warn.

He makes a small, quick move and Crystal finds his spear's tip hooked on his foe's.
"Either disengage or commit to the battle of brute force." Nilarq says.

"That's good. Now, you might feel this rub funny on you, but your whole damn body might get infected if I don't do this. So... sorry if it's somehow more uncomfortable than your situation already is." He sighs.
You can feel slight pressure on your arms, chest, legs, and hips. Your body starts to go from stinging a bit back to numb.

 

"I'm thrilled."
Crystal says, pushing Nilarq's spear away and taking the opening to try and hit Nilarq at the neck.

 

He does something unexpected; he lunges forward, past the point of Crystal's spear and grabs onto it, momentum knocking him and Crystal to the ground.
"Heh, not bad for a first timer. One more shot?"

 

"What?"
Crystal says, rolling over onto of Nilarq.
"Don't wanna keep going?"

 

A powerful water blast makes Crystal hover over Nilarq.
"Hehee, I don't want to go to the death with you, rookie. You're a good kid." He laughs, smiling.

 

"Really? I thought we were good in here with all the crono-whatever."
Crystal asks, letting himself be hovered.

 

"We are, but while the death might not be the pain sure as hell is."

 

I beam from the outskirts.

Crystal spouts a jet of water of his head, stopping him from hovering and he falls to the ground, sticking the landing.
"You're the expert here, I guess."
He says, shrugging, before re-adjusting for the nth time, getting prepared for whatever Nilarq might do.

 

Nilarq holds his hand out, expecting the spear.
"I'd say you're close enough to start playing with the elements. We won't do anything too painful; trauma won't help you learn."

 

"Alright."
Crystal loosens up and tosses the spear to Nilarq sideways, so it's kinda like catching a bar.

 

Nilarq slides it into his cloak in one smooth motion, tossing Crystal his frost spear from earlier.
"Alright. Basics first; that's a cryo weapon, or ice for more general purposes. You beat electricity, magma, and water, but lose to fire, earth, and light. Call it a fancy game of rock-paper-scissors, but everything has its ups and downs. Got that?"

 

"E.M.W., F.E.L."
Crystal repeats.
"Okay, I think I got it."

 

"Alright. We'll start out with recognition; I'm going to throw an elemental spear at you, but not at full force. Depending on what it is, I want you to dodge it, block it, or freeze it midair. Ready?" Nilarq asks, nine spears splitting into ninety.

 

"Certainly." I say, placing a rune on the container and de-summoning it.
I make my way over to the mess hall.

 

Abigail throws down her board and skates off into the park, pulling tricks and grinding on rails. Katie walks over to a very simplistic area of the skate park, comtaining small ramps, inclines and a lot of flat ground.

"Don't stress if you can't pick it up immediately, nobodies a natural born skateboarding professional." Katie says kindly, smiling at Alice.

 

Crystal gets into a ready stance with his spear and nods.

 

It's mostly empty, a few draconians cleaning up completely torn-up... everything.

Alice follows Katie, relaxing a bit.
"I'll try..." She says, still a bit nervous, putting the board on the ground.

Five spears are thrown in succession; one smoldering, one brimming with electricity, the next white hot, and the last two both normal looking.

 

"Alright, let's just try some basic skateboarding. Try moving yourself forward, like this." Katie says, slowly rolling forward on her skateboard.
