Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Crystal can't manage to force his armor off, but he succeeds in throwing Nilarq somewhat far off to the side.
After coming out of a roll, he smiles.
"Not bad, not bad. In a fight, take what you can get."

Alice just looks to join the line of people waiting outside the throne room.

 

Alice ends up behind a nervous looking water guardian, their breathing incredibly fast.

"H-H-H-Hey, y-you're he-here to see the k-king too?" The water guardian asks nervously upon noticing Alice, smiling weakly.

 

"Right."
Crystal says, re-adjusting.

 

"Yes, I am." Alice says, smiling back. "Here because of gang activity." She sighs.

"Try it again, with a moving target this time." Nilarq says, getting up.

 

"O-O-Oh...that's n-n-not good t-t-t-to hear...I-I'm here t-t-to ask f-for a j-job, b-b-but I c-can't help b-but feel l-l-like t-t-this might b-b-be my end...I-I-I've travelled so f-far, I d-d-don't want t-t-to mess u-u-up..." The water guardian says nervously, shaking quite a bit. A small pool seems to have formed below him, from the amount he's sweating.

 

Alice puts her hand on his shoulder.
"I'm pretty sure you'll have a better chance if you simply don't show up trembling. I know it's hard in the face of... well... the king, but just think about it. You've come all this way, and you're going to worry it was for nothing? Everything you do is progress. I believe you can take the last step."

 

"Thank you." I say, and look for the nearest map.

 

"Y-Y-Y-Y-Yeah...I-I-I-It's j-j-j-just t-t-t-that...w-when I was t-t-traveling t-t-to this k-k-kingdom, I-I heard r-r-rumours on t-the r-r-road that...I-If t-the k-k-king isn't im-impressed w-with you, h-h-he k-k-k-kills y-y-you." The water guardian stutters, his skin icy cold to the touch, oddly.

 

"He's not that bad, unless you look really really bent out of shape." Alice says.

The palace is in a basic rectangle shape; a squarish hallway consisting of most of the halls, and one to the library in the middle.

 

I decide to visit some of the interesting sounding rooms, leaving he library for last.

 

"Next!" The guard at the door calls. The line moves forward as a strange horned being heads into the throne room.

"W-W-Where's the l-last p-p-person who went i-in?" The water guardian asks down the line.

"They're dead, hahaha." The guard laughs, malice and seriousness in his voice.

"O-O-O-O-O-Oh g-g-g-god..." The water guardian says, leaning against the wall, his breathing probably as fast as humanly possible.

 

Crystal advances slowly, observing Nilarq's actions.

 

The training area, lab, and mess hall sound all pretty straightforward but interesting.
In fairness, draconians tend to run things differently than humans.

Alice pats him on the back.
"Hey, you'll share the same fate if you look like this in there. If you keep it together, you'll be fine. The better you look to him, the better your chances are."

Nilarq simply stands cautiously, holding a spear ready to block.

 

Crystal feints a few jabs with the spear.

 

I decide to go to the lab first.

 

Nilarq falls for one, leaving an opening.

There seem to only be two draconians in here, both just taking notes on odd liquids.
"Oh... hello. Have you been in here long?"

 

"Not quite. Mind telling me what you do here?"

 

"I-I-I-I-I c-can't d-d-do this, I-I-I'm g-g-going t-to d-d-d-d-die..." The water guardian says nervously, his eyes wide with fear.

The strange horned being heads out of the throne room, high fiving another of her kind, the next in queue whilst holding a briefcase; a few coins falling out from it.

"Next!" The guard calls. The other strange horned being heads into the throne room, as her companion waits by the exit doors.

"T-T-They s-sure seem c-c-confident..." The water guardian comments nervously.

 

Crystal takes the chance to hook onto a notch and throw, repeating what he did before but a bit faster.

 

"Right now we're working on developing an antidote for a toxic flower native to our homeworld."

"And they were fine. Come on, you can't let your life's work be for nothing!" Alice encourages.

Nilarq soon finds himself on the ground.
"Heh, good! You're a fast learner."
