Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The portal gate flashes, before a portal to Xlentia's chamber opens up.

"Here we go." I say happily, jumping through the portal. The earth guardians step through, looking around curiously.

 

Sophie steps through, the gryphon construct waiting.
"Selene, you got the pieces!"
A squawk is the response.
"Okay. Aj, speak to the mistress. The rest of you... I hope you can move craptons of metal."

 

"Oh, alright." I say, slightly surprised from being let off work.

The earth guardians easily lift the pieces of Alpha in response.


I grow a pair of Shadow wings and fly around, looking for Xlentia.

 

Flying straight up causes you to run straight into Xlentia's eye.
"Gah... there you are. Feeling better?"

Sophie ushers them out of Xlentia's chambers.

 

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I ask, flying back.


The earth guardians obediently leave.

 

"I dunno, figured you had to be a bit sore about the sacrifice. I wanted to thank you, plus compensate for destroyed houses when I lost my balance. So..."
A pile of gold the size of Xlentia's eye is slid under you.
"...it's not much, but hopefully it'll help cover the costs."

 

"Sacrifice?" I ask, "Oh...right...Ihra..."

The realization seems to hit me like a brick, myself descending slightly as I remember not being able to say goodbye.

"Why..." I mutter quietly, depressed.

 

"I could erase the memory if you would prefer. I do owe you and your friends..."

 

"No! No...I'd rather not forget Ihra." I say hastily, though still rather depressed.

"A-Anyway...why, uh, did you want to see me?" I ask, trying to get over my sad thoughts.

 

Xlentia taps the pile of gold.
"Compensation for damages, and the acknowledgement that I owe you and your friends." She sighs.

 

"Oh, thanks." I say, descending to the pile of gold and focusing my energy, creating a net of sorts around it before desummoning the pile.

 

"So... um... why? Why'd you turn from killing me to hoping I would side with you?"

 

"Because you weren't exactly you when I wanted to kill you," I say, smirking "And it's usually best to have a gradient of 'Attempt to make ally' and 'Attempt to kill' with, well, almost anything."

 

"It was this Ihra, wasn't it?" Xlentia says, chuckling. "Well, dear, I'm terribly sorry I cannot bring her back, but I'm glad I was freed by someone with a soul and conviction as strong as hers must've been. Now, come on. You look like you need a hug." She smiles gently.

 

I sigh.

"I'm sorry, I just...I need to do something. Maybe fix a massive mistake I've made." I say, summoning the watch of true time in my hand.

I go back in time to the moment where I killed Vei, and proceed to scold myself for being so foolish, completing a loop...

I reappear with a light blue flash, looking like I'm holding back tears.

"I saw her..." I say sadly.

 

"Come, get big and give me a hug. You look like you need one too." She says, oddly sweetly.

 

I focus my power, increasing my size as well as the amount of light in the room, until I'm large enough to hug Xlentia, which I proceed to do.

 

She gives you a hug back, patting you surprisingly gently.
"Thank you for this, dear. Just... tell the others that they have an I-O-U from me. You might get two, if things go smoothly for me and I feel like it." She says, still somehow sweet through her self-centered statement.

 

"I-Is there any w-way I could possibly c-contact Ihra through y-you?" I ask, still managing to hold back tears.

 

"Is that your one request?" She asks, suddenly sounding concerned.
