Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh, right. I was going to help you with that." I say, slightly embarrassed.

"I'll, uh, go get some earth guardians from the robotics lab. They're strong enough and knowledgeable enough to help." I say, leaving the room.

 

"O-oh... um... thanks." Sophie says, taken off guard.

 

A while later, I return.

"Right, let's get going shall we?" I say happily.

 

"Y-yeah. Xlentia will be happy to see you, too." Sophie says, cheering up slightly despite looking pained, putting her armor back on.

 

"Uh, really? Even though I was going to k-" I pause, taking a moment to rethink my words, "I mean, even though I kind of beat the hell out of her?"

 

"That's why Ruby turned on you. We all know you looked to kill her." Sophie says bluntly.

 

"Eh heh heh...well...she did kill Stephanie, and would probably not hesitate with the others," I say nervously, "She, uh, isn't going to try and kill me, is she?"

 

"She apologized to Stephanie in person. She doesn't just bow to mortals like that for no reason." Sophie says, offended. "Besides, you knew she wasn't herself."

 

"Just checking. Anyway, no time like the present," I say, "Do you, uh...have a form of transport to the void?"

 

"Kinda... I've kinda just used the barracks portal room thing. Or wherever Lian used."

 

"Oh, right. I guess we should use that." I say, turning to leave the room and beckoning Sophie to follow.

 

Sophie follows, keeping silent.

 

A small group of earth guardians seem to have been waiting outside, following me too.

I head into the elevator at the entrance to the medical ward, a guard missing an arm stumbling through the main entrance, spilling blood.

 

"U-uhm... what...?"

 

"Hm?" I ask, turning the dials.

 

"Why is there a guard missing an arm...?"

 

I glance over.

"Must've been injured on duty. Happens." I say, turning the last dial and teleporting the group to the portal room.

I casually stride over to the terminal, typing in commands to locate a link to the void.

 

"Who the hell would have the nerve to attack the palace? I mean, aside from some other random magical girl with a bunch of friends?"

 

"Shadow beasts." I say flatly, typing commands.

"They're extremely dangerous. If you're caught off guard by one, then you're as good as dead." An earth guardian says, slight worry in his voice.

 

"Oh. Guess I'll modify Alpha while I'm at it, then."
