Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Scientists are all over the lab, working with chemicals and materials. A few of them notice Sapphire, and eventually, a familiar face walks over.

"How are you feeling today?" Joanne asks, smiling.

 

"Weak, but I came to ask you about the bowl with the grey fluid. What is it?" Sapphire asks. "And before you say it's something basic to living, this is all new to me..."

 

"That was a bowl of basic food substance. No wonder you're feeling weak, you must be hungry. Come with me, I'll help you eat." Joanne says kindly, heading into Sapphire's temporary room.

 

Sapphire follows.
"Living takes so much work..." Sapphire comments. "Being a construct is easy in comparison."

 

"A construct?" Joanne asks, curious, sitting on Sapphire's bed and picking up the bowl and spoon.

 

"My puppets. I used to be cursed to be one of them, and my figurative daughter helped me make them. I keep hoping Aj wakes up to see if he'll help me repair Alpha." Sapphire says, laying down.

 

"Um, you might want to sit up to eat." Joanne says, chuckling slightly.

 

"Sorry, just hoping my puppets haven't gotten into any trouble. I take a nap for fun, and next thing I know Alpha's gone!" Sapphire sighs, sitting up.

 

Joanne takes a spoonful of the grey food substance.

"Open your mouth." Joanne says calmly, holding the spoon above the bowl to stop any of the substance from accidentally spilling onto the bed.

 

Sapphire complies.

 

Joanne puts the spoon in Sapphire's mouth, pouring the grey food substance into it.

"Now, tilt your head back and let the food slide down your throat, but don't try to breathe while it's in your throat." Joanne instructs calmly.

 

Sapphire does as instructed again, the not breathing part being the easiest for her.

 

The grey food substance tastes bland, but she easily 'swallows' it due to it's semi-liquid nature. Joanne repeats the process of feeding Sapphire until the bowl is empty.

 

"Thanks...? I don't know what food does, though. Again, constructs don't need to worry about many things living things do. This is all so... awkwardly strange, I guess." She chuckles.

 

"Your body naturally processes food into energy. You need to eat around three times a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, in order to stop yourself from becoming hungry. If you don't eat, you'll starve to death," Joanne explains, "I think it might be a good idea to get you a personal Shadow until you're used to living, since you've lost most of your natural instincts. They could feed you, make sure you stay breathing and get you immediate help should something happen to you."

 

"Fine... but Mistress'll kill me if a shadow worms through my memories!"

 

"Oh, they most certainly won't read your mind. They'll be sort of a personal servant to you." Joanne says, getting up and taking the bowl and spoon with her, leaving the room.

A short while later, Joanne returns with a Shadow following her.

"This is Lian, he'll be your personal Shadow." Joanne says, smiling.

"Hello there, Miss, uh...I'm terribly sorry, but I don't know your name." Lian says apologetically.

 

"Sophie... My name's Sophie. Sapphire is just a title... that I think I lost."

 

"It's very nice to meet you, Miss Sophie. As Joanne has stated, I am Lian. I'm here to assist you with whatever you need." Lian says respectfully, bowing.

 

"Okay, then... I... uh... hope you can keep me alive, then."
