Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Sapphire approaches Aqui's vat, realizing she lost her mask somewhere.

 

"True, true. Who wants to search?"
"I'll go." I say, standing up.

 

"Might as well."

 

Aqui just floats there, immobile like the rest of her jarred friends. Was Sapphire just seeing things, or...

Aqui's eyes suddenly spring open, staring directly at Sapphire.

 

Sapphire freezes up, terrified.
"I'm so sorry..." She whispers, breaths rapid.

I take flight, looking for an exit.

 

The giant door is the only way out.

 

The autobreather senses this, providing more air to compensate.

Aqui stares at Sapphie for a bit, before looking herself over. She seems quite badly wounded from the fight, open wounds everywhere. Aqui gazes around the room, looking to Aeris with broken wings, and Ignia who's spine looks bent in a way a spine shouldn't be bent, before back to Sapphire. Aqui doesn't seem to be making any attempt to get out, either because she can't or sinply doesn't want to. She just floats in her vat, staring.

 

If it's closed I try opening it, and if it's open, I fly through.

 

Cecil is going to try to follow you.

 

Sapphire glances around to look for you, or, as she's heard, the queen.

Opening the door is surprisingly easy, though it closes itself slowly behind you.
...There are mostly corpses out here.

 

Another large door resides nearby, a red sign saying 'RESTRICTED ACCESS: VIEW ONLY' above it. Aqui seems to be looking toward the door too, somewhat curious from her confined space.

 

I just fly along, looking around.

 

Sapphire approaches, intending to view only.

You find a few groups of survivors in the distance, some patching each other up, and others mourning losses. Even more common is flat-out confusion.

 

I fly towards them, but I approach closer by foot, landing with a 'thump' noise.

 

The door opens into a particulary small room with a clear glass window, showing two large vats. I reside in the left vat, the tolls of the battle much more visible as deep cuts reside all over my body, some parts with holes, while a much...darker scene resides in the right vat. Shadow Stephanie, or what looks a bit like Shadow Stephanie, floats in the liquid missing her entire torso. Shadow Stephanie's legs, arms and head are barely connected to each other, some of Shadow Stephanie's spinal cord floating in the liquid below her head. The scene is rather disgusting, and a "SITUATION: CRITICAL." Sign glows ominously below Shadow Stephanie's vat.

There's a loud sound as the entrance doors re-open, having automatically closed since. It seems someone's coming.

 

One of the groups glances at you.
"You know how we ended up here, mecha?" One asks.
"The hell did we get in the Void..."

Sapphire lets out a sigh of relief upon seeing Shadow Stephanie intact, albeit not in one piece.

 

"Damn."
I whisper to myself.
"Some mind control shit. I'm assuming that you don't know anything about a 'Xelentia', then?"
I ask.

 

There's some tapping on the glass outside from Aqui, trying to warn Sapphire of the scientist checking each vat one by one.

 

Sapphire glances back, then uses the tank holders to hide her head, the only thing visible.

"Goddess Xlentia? Of course we do... she's mythical. Everyone's read a myth or two about her." One replies.
