Ok , so i am Veteran.
I play from 2013.

 

what IS veteran rank?

 

People that had a rank before a certain date were given veteran rank to compensate for lost buffs that came with having a rank like permanent dxp

 

Then change the veteran tag's name.
giving people who bought stuff for the server a tag of veteran is plain stupid, some of us played as long as we could but couldn't buy it in time, hell, I'm planning to buy Vip+ somewhen soon, and i probably played longer than some veteran tags.
do i deserve compensation for something? No.
do they deserve to be called more experienced than me because they bought something with money? No.
I'd even bee fine with "Old School Player" or something, but professionalizing their titles is annoying and stupid, they can brag with something of the same meaning without laughing at us, or even shoving it in our face that they were lucky and could donate in a certain time.

My solution:
- Change the tag name to something else, less time based or atleast less hardcore; examples include: "Old School Player", "Early Donator", "EULA Victim" or more, maybe the ability to switch around all of those suggestions as your tag if some wouldn't be pleased by 1.
- Give them special cosmetics - as far as i know there is nothing in the EULA that prevents you from giving them cosmetics regular players cant get, especially since the technicality suggests that the "rank" is not pay based but more time based, and while it is the combination of both, I think as there is a clear prevention of people getting the "rank" by pay only, it counts as more time-based than pay-based.

One last thing, there is then the option of giving old players a [VET] rank if my proposed solution is accepted, I'm deeply sorry if this post doesn't make sense, I'm writing it at 1:40 A.M

I have never seen someone with a vet tag brag about it.

someone quoted me saying they never seen someone with vet brag about it, [I may have exhaggarated, but the point still stands, calling them veterans for this is a bit extreme and annoying]

i assume you still thought i was a new player regardless of me stating that i was not, or maybe you meant that no new players (new as in something now, and not regarding joining dates?) wont be getting Vet?

As someone who missed out on the vet tag even though I have been playing for 4 years, it's alright. The only benefit you get from a vet tag is some social status and a bit of free attention. It doesn't really matter much when you think about it.

 

Well, neither do any cosmetics on hypixel matter, do people still want them? Yes.
You are correct, though, I guess its still something not everyone can get, my point being that giving people a tag that is adjective of their login time, rank-biased is kind of a bad idea, especially such an extreme adjective such as "Veteran" then again, atleast they aren't making a PTR server and not making any changes based off of it (blizzard) or atleast they aren't isolating a platform and making free stuff cost, all after SELLING THEIR *VIDEO GAME* COMPANY TO A LARGE CORPORATION which is obviously a really good idea, it worked for all games until now. UHM UHM MOJANG.
whatever wynncraft's direction is, its still better than 1 direction, now for a more urgent matter - seaskipper captain got a boat and became omnipresent and gained the ability to both bend space-time to his needs and create custom universes within wynncraft, in which only he, his client, and his boat exist amongst a shallow, infinite sea - i'd like to see his full story as a big joke - maybe a quest explaining his background - pls make it a meme so devs notice!

well that's an extreme accomplishment

Veteran tag was given because 2013-2014 players who bought VIP lost most of their rewards from EULA. Seeing that you hadn't had either the VIP, or the loss, you won't or can't be given Veteran tag anyway. So bragging about it is not really a way to get the tag.

Does Wynncraft cosmetics and rewards change anything? But people still want them.

Like I said before, VIPs from 2013 and 2014 lost a lot of buffs/rewards/cosmetics/mechanics because of the EULA, so staff members decided to give the veteran rank so they are special and can be identified as old players who suffered from EULA.

 

1. that answered nothing - i already knew that, you answered that question 2 times and in both times what i said was about tagging them as "Veterans" (time based, login time based) because of ranks - I'm sure the mods could have thought up something that wouldn't falsly descriminate playing before the EULA changes/donating before the EULA changes.
its not such a rough descrimination, this is just a minecraft server, of course, all im saying is that i think calling them veterans based on a rank is a bad idea.

3. you just really like to correct people don't ya? well the difference is as far as i know in hypixel unlike wynncraft there are some cosmetics only available to certain ranks, then again i might not be correct as i've only picked up on monthly crates not too long ago. yes, I'm an idiot.

about the 3rd point - I'm really sorry if it sounded kinda condesending, I did NOT mean to be like that - my point was that it doesn't matter if they dont change anything gameplay wise - its still something people want to have, and mostly dont.

 

You want a new rank for just joining the server way back when, but not losing most of the perks that you've paid for with real life money?

You didn't lose anything, all you did was join the server a while back. That doesn't really deserve any compensation. There's no practicality in adding it as it's unnecessary effort for free.

You're getting extremely defensive over something when you were given a definitive answer and explanation by a member of staff.
