There are tons of quests in Wynncraft. When there's quests, there's a dialogue. When there's dialogue, there's always a chance it'll be unskippable. I'm gonna fly through a few reasons why unskippable dialogue is a bad idea, and hopefully by the end you'll agree with me, and we can eradicate this weird feature.

    1. It ruins the pacing.
Let's say you're doing a quest where you have to do a repetitive task, and every time you progress, an unskippable cutscene plays. While each piece of unskippable dialogue may seem like not a lot, it adds up very quickly, especially since a lot of the newer and lategame quests feature way more.

    2. Some people don't care for the story.

Whether you want to admit it or not, sometimes gameplay is more important than the story. When you're just playing to finish all the quests, you probably won't be scanning each piece of dialogue. So why force the player to read through such slow-moving text?

    3. Dialogue can already be read as fast as wanted.
This one's obvious, but why not. Skippable dialogue doesn't have to be skipped if the player chooses so. So why have unskippable dialogue in the first place if the option was already there?

While unskippable dialogue may help with making a quest stand out among the crowd, giving it a sense of immersion, I think it's time the content team gets rid of this feature. Anyway, that's all I have. Feel free to roast me in the comments if you disagree with me.

    1. some parts of quests literally require it, such as an escort or to explain something.
    2. you are playing an rpg
    3. that is for instructions not for story

aka, you want to play an rpg game that took years to make and ignore the work went into it. also, there are a lot of quests and almost every one of them has skippable dialogue. Only ones that have a legit reason to prevent it have it.

1.Yeah,I agree with those obviously, they can stay
    2. So? As you said, there's a lot of quests that already have skippable dialogue in wynn...
    3. Just keep instructions and other needed things unskippable, simple as that (but also you can just scroll up in chat to view the instructions again so idk how that's a point, plus questbook exists although sometimes it doesn't help)
And I'm sorry to say that there's always that population that doesn't care, or doesn't know... Plus if you've already done the quest(s) multiple times over it gets boring. Simple answer is make uneccesary dialogue skippable (eg random lore tidbits, and times when they're standing still and just blabbering about random stuff like "I'm about 70% better now" or whatever aledar says in AJF like line 1)

I agree, dialogue should be skippable. Especially after you've done the quest before and already know what to do, it's a huge pain to have to read a bunch of dialogue for no reason.

I hate repeating new quests largely for this reason. I think that they're good quests, objectively much better than any of the old ones, but having to sit and do nothing for a minute or two while I wait for some dialogue I've already read multiple times to end, multiple times over the course of a quest, starts to add up. If someone doesn't want to read the dialogue, too bad for them, this makes doing quests far less fun for me.

The reason with making unskippable dialogue is probably because there is an animation too, if you skipped the whole dialogue then you’ll still need to wait for the animation to finish. That’s just a guess on how it works, not sure if that’s the reason.

I’d say if you finished the quest before, then you can skip unskippable dialogue if you want or maybe not (it will complicate things).
But honestly, I think there still needs to be some of them that aren’t unskippable no matter what.

If there is an unnecessary dialogue that isn’t skippable (for example, where is a character just standing and talking and you still can’t skip it) then maybe make a feedback on it to make it skippable.

Btw, I’m not against making some dialogue skippable but I don’t think making all of them skippable is a good decision.

Argument 3 contradicts argument 2 just saying.

also saying you’re playing an RPG is a worthless argument given a lot of the quest writing is objectively bad
