My favorite part of this is that Lk, AKA Mr. OP, is getting absolutely rekt by Washington D.C. Anyway, Nico and Will decide to carefully scout towards the clock tower, staying out of sight.

 

"Mikos. Mikos Izomai, as your service. I'd like to make myself useful as soon as possible, but..."

Mikos will take out his tome and pen and turns to an empty page.

"... if you don't mind me asking, where am I, and why does the town look so... empty?"

 

Honestly I me getting absolutely reked by washington D.C. is incredible.

Also, I realize I am op but I Don't think I will win this TBH I might lose and in the end thats not fine Imma win (for real I am 50% sure I will lose)

Also, Surprise I like balance I realize the missile thing is OP that I can Agree on but what else can I fix. I love balance sometimes I get lost in the "I must win" energy and I go too overboard. I like Criticism because it can help me improve myself. How can I fix this/nerf myself?

 

I suppose if you're asking, you have a small habit of pulling out things that'll get you out of unprecedented scenarios, but without good reason as to why you had said thing. Especially here, when Midas forgot about magic when attacking Notingburg:

If anything, overpoweredness isn't the issue (though it is a bit much), but the lack of justification for it. This is just my opinion though, so interpret it as you will.​

The whole barrier disappears. Midas launches a cruise missle to a group of about 6 Shardaic Mages and it kills them. Once again to Midas's dismay, the fire elementalist, wherever they are, is unaffected by the anti-magic spell. Another transparent green eye symbol appears in the sky, although much fainter than before. Regardless, about half of Notingburg's magicae spring back into action and lightning bolts, blasts of white light, fireballs, earth slabs, air pummels, and red bullets fill the sky against Midas's forces. Due to the buildings and streets splitting up Midas's forces into smaller groups, his forces become disjointed and the magicae are able to pick them off. Midas's helicopters and drones are doing more of the work now as they pick off groups of magicae. Still, Midas is experiencing heavy losses despite Notingburg's remaining forces only being half of its magicae. He might actually lose at this rate.

Beplep flies his Choppa and his drones wreaking havoc on buildings and other. He encounters a group of three Shardaic Mages and quickly eliminates them with his metal shard blaster. Beplep then flies a few yards away before a fire plume is sent his way and destroys three of his twelve drones. The source of this fire plume is from a fire elementalist standing on a rooftop. A faint eye symbol hovers over him.

This is the elementalist that has been giving Midas and Beplep trouble.

What will Midas do with his forces and what will Beplep do?

I wouldn't say he's getting rekt since he's slowly making progress to winning but I'm giving him a fight.

Nico and Will jump from rooftop to rooftop making sure not to be seen by the crowds below. As the reach the clocktower, they realize the clocktower is at the center of a massive square. In the center of the square, is a pole with three nooses.

A man with a thick uniform to fight the cold yells in a language unknown to Nico and Will. Six more soldiers then appear from the clocktower building with three blindfolded prisoners. Some of the crowd is cheering, some of the crowd is booing, some of the crowd simply gives solemn stares. The prisoners are walked to their nooses and stand on stools. Each of their blindfolds are ripped off and the main soldier yells off some more. It would be ideal if Nico and Will could understand what they were saying. That's a problem to be solved later.

There's more cheering from one side of the crowd and more booing from the other side of the crowd until a gunshot goes off. The cheers and boos go silent as a man on the cheering side falls to the floor clutching his stomach. Several more gunshots go off and several magicae also begin sending fireballs and summoning lightning. A brawl at the town square has started.

It would be best to leave.

What now?

"You're in Konyu, Panami." Mikos after hearing the word Panami recalls reading it outloud from a textbook. Apparently, reading the name on the sign outside wasn't enough to jog that memory.

"The town's empty because... well the time barriers are falling tomorrow and everyone wants to get out of this town," the man sighs. "I'm too poor for such a move and I have a kid to raise.."

Time barriers?

What now?

 

Yep, at least make sure you have reason to have a thing, especially if pulled out of nowhere. And another thing. Your view on this might be different than mine, but failure isn't always a loss. It *usually* makes for a more interesting story than one where the MC simply steamrolls over everything in their path.

Mikos will note down everything Aliruja's saying, then stop abruptly on the mention of the time barriers.

"Time barriers, you say? And the fact that people know they're falling probably means that this happens on a regular schedule? If people are trying to get out of town because of these barriers following, what will happen to those left behind?""

 

mm yeah I also noticed that Midas forgot about magic when attacking Notingburg so I decided to use it as Notingburg's main defense since it would be a bit of a surprise and support the existence of magic.

However I was thrown a little off by the anti-magic trophy and the anti-magic book sacrifice that came out of nowhere and so I had to throw in my own shenanigans (the eye symbol in the sky) to counter this. I have a justification for the unordinary fire magicae and eye symbol in the sky. Someone may recognize it if they were in "An Actual Modern Day Rp" or whatever it was titled. I didn't really want to bring it in so early but I also didn't want to make something up that didn't fit the general rules I've set up.

I also prefer having failure as a great motivator for characters, good or bad, but I understand if people don't like going through that. This time, I'm trying to adapt a diverse roleplaying style to fit all needs and to try and make the rp something people want to invest in although I don't think I'm doing a good job at that right now.

I know I got lost in the game I realize that losing does not mean failing.

As the dust settles, Midas orders a retreat...

 

Eh, most rp's I've seen (structured or otherwise) usually have a slow start before people get even more invested into it, so don't sell yourself short yet.

 

Yep I Really expect this whole plan to fall apart easily.

He keeps yelling and screaming about larry and screaming violently about the helmet, then out of thin air a ball of fire appears and tries to hit me! The helmet helped me avoid it, he tried to throw another one but it does not work. He started crying and crying then he didn't. signed Midas

Another person gets video records of his plan and his "Glorious revolution" People are creeped out by him but really don't care.

I really hope this clears stuff Up I like this roleplay but I dug myself a hole too deep and I deeply apologise to the GM for this

Beplep: Midas Where do you get all this anti magic weaponry? To be frank I don't know anything about you besides you rule everyone

Midas: Well Beplep to be honest I don't know I just know no matter how many allies, I make, Losses I learn from, cities I take, wars I lose, wars I win, It will never be enough.

Beplep: what?

Midas: One day I will find the Thing that makes me whole, that makes me feel complete. To be honest Im not even sure if total control will finish this.

Beplep: What are you saying?

Midas: It does not matter if we lose, we'll strike again, but if we win then what I grow old die, my kin grows old and die, and his kin will grow old a die. What am I searching for! I won't live forever...Dear god how time flys No no no no I got to find it before I fall to his grasp

Beplep: well... If you find it let me know

Midas's grand plan

Its just a piece of paper that says figure it out. Another note states "no matter the outcome of the war, atleast we tried something" from the scribblings it is clear midas's big fear is being forgotten he wants to build a selfish legacy and uses his hatred twords magic as a motive to distract himself. His only real goal is to be remembered forever

 

"That's strange most people don't care about others. And no it's free. It's my fault this even happened"

 

@Aquila I gave some backstory (more in the future) and I retreated from the fight

 

"I'm not sure honestly," the man shrugs. "The town clears out and then... and then... I don't know. More jobs for people to fill I guess. This town is really poor and tough to live in if you've noticed."

The little kid then bursts into the room with a checkered box. "Daddy! Can you play chess with me!?" the little kid says happily.

Aliruja gives a smile. "Fireza, you know I'm only good at checkers." The kid and the man exit Mikos's new room but before Aliruja exits, he says to Mikos, "Do you want to join us in the living room?"

"The kid is homeless," the man says. "His parents got killed off just last week by Stacked Deck." Thoughts about your debt in two days come back. Suddenly, you're angry. This kid's parents died to the very gang you owe 228375 Corks to in two days.

"I'm one of his old neighbors," the man says. "I can't take him into my home because the officials won't let me. Some bullshit reason about recent deaths."

The kid bursts into tears once hearing the word "deaths." The man apologizes to the kid and tries to shush him.

Do you want to get the two of them out of the hospital or do something else?

Midas's forces retreat, not wanting to sustain anymore losses. Notingburg's defense is extremely good, especially with that fire magicae who seems to be causing that eye symbol to appear in the sky countering anti-magic systems. What's even more devastating is that most of Detinu's forces are located at the coasts ready to move to other timezones once the time barriers fall. This wasn't Notingburg's strongest resistance. If Midas were to attack Notingburg again, he would need to come up with a better strategy.

Mm so I'm going to go old sandbox mode.

Midas says "I have sent a stealth squad to pire town" they have the cluster strike

Beplep knows what midas will do, but out of fear said nothing

 

"Well can't really help you with that. But out of curisotiy do you know how and why they were killed?"

 

mm Pire Town is Panami Nation's 3rd most populated city. Notingburg is the capital of the Detinu Provinces. So will Midas be trying to take over as much as possible in the whole Modern Timezone? I think I assumed wrong because I thought Midas would only be targetting stuff in the Detinu Provinces.

"His parents owed a debt they couldn't pay. They gambled a lot," the man says. So the kid's parents were in the same situation as you. This doesn't bode well for the future. "The father was a mechanic, the mother didn't work. Stacked Deck killed them during the night while they were sleeping. They ransacked the house for all its wealth and burned it down. This kid was found in the rubble. He had some cuts but no burn wounds. I think he's a fire elementalist that hasn't been trained (trained fire elementalists can't get burned. passive ability). It's miraculous that he didn't get burned inside the house, but he can still get burned."

 

He just wants Notingburg and will get it by any means.

The stealth squad arrive at pire town
