A dwarven town founded as a monument to the victory in Molten Heights. It was built by the power of the people. Dwarves are communal and riches are owned by all.

as you can see the dwarven state is communist and literally the soviet union yes definitely
no but actually, especially with the not so nice parts about dwarves we learn about in dnd 1 and 2 i can see the similarities

You're just underthinking it. If you really think you can explain away the similarities by saying "it's just a made-up fiction place" then you're kind of silly.

Not everything has to have some deep meaning and explanation behind it

Countless games have maps that are just made up, not based on any real places. It's completely normal. Here are a few I can name off the top of my head that aren't based on real places:
    • The Elder Scrolls series
    • Fallout series
    • The Witcher series
    • Cyberpunk 2077
    • Most, if not all, of the Far Cry series AFAIK
    • The Outer Worlds
    • Stardew Valley
    • Countless others
Get the point? Doesn't seem silly to me...

    Sorry, what was that?

Bruh. Yeah, fallout, the most notoriously devoid of real-world-connections game series, which is based in no way around any wars of low temperature, and has no factions attempting to organize society around the prelapsarian ideas of societies past, and the witcher, a game which no one can point to any real world inspirations for. I don't care about the rest of the examples you listed, I'm pretty sure stardew valley isn't comparable because it's kind of like animal crossing (a game I also have not played), and isn't Far Cry set in pretty realistic places? Actually, no way that you really think cyberpunk 2077 has no real world influences, like, do you really think they just modeled all of those buildings off of what they imagine buildings are like. But all of those things are beside the point, just because those games supposedly don't have any connection to real world places, doesn't mean that Corkus doesn't eerily resemble America.

Stardew Valley definitely doesn't have any real-world influences, what with the main villain (such as it is) being the large corporation that's terrible and demoralizing to work at and is driving small shops out of business, and with the entire story being set into motion because your character decides that the corporate life isn't for them and to try living in a different way, with the idea of rejecting that corporate influence and living a more simple life being an extremely important theme to the game as whole, with it quite literally making you decide if the evils of that life are worth the convenience. The Outer Worlds shows absolutely no deeper messages by being heavily critical of many real social problems that have been in the spotlight very the last few year as well, I'd say it definitely doesn't have some pretty serious symbolism and real-world influence. It's not like there are powerful corporations with no regard for the life and well-being of their employees, that will happily ruin lives and resort to slave labor just to save a few bucks in real life. Sarcasm aside, it's hard to find a popular game without any sort of real-world influence or inspiration.

Yeah ok you're right about Fallout, I hadn't played Fallout in a while so I completely forgot they were based on real places LOL, you'd think my hundreds of hours on Fallout 4 would inform me that the map is based on Boston but I guess thats too much for my smol brain

But I still think Corkus is a completely made up place. Sure, there are lots of similarities, but there are also quite a few obvious differences that easily differentiate Corkus and 'Merica. My point stands, not every game map has to be a replica of a real place.
    ________________________________
I completely agree. I never said these games didn't have ANY real world influence, I just said their maps aren't replicas of real places. Corkus obviously has some real world influences but I'm just talking about the map itself.

Here's my point: GTA V is supposed to be a replica of Los Angeles. And it does a pretty good job, I live in LA and I've played GTA V and I can say it's quite accurate. What I'm saying is Corkus isn't to the USA what Los Santos is to Los Angeles. It's not based on a real place. Sure there are plenty of real world influences but in the end, overall, it's still a made-up fictional place.
